Cool watch! I couldn't resist after seeing this thread earlier -- I just picked up a mint J series with box, papers and a few straps for 8k. Couple year warranty, hope it doesn't need it! My first Panerai as well, something about that 'dot' 233 really does it for me.

Love to hear it! I'm strap accumulation mode at the moment. Already bought more than I can count, and flipped a few that didn't impress as much in person. Should have the finally assortment in the next week or two and will post pics then. In the meantime I'm really loving the OEM PV strap. Highly recommended!

Enough of the words and a few quick pics!

P.S. A VERY STRONG endorsement of European Watch Company. They were super responsive and helpful, shipped the watch out overnight the same day I wired funds. If you're in the market for any higher end watch, definitely go check them out!
One silly question. Why is it called "green dot"? I just got into Pam and am still learning about them. Is it because of the domed crystal?

Grats the 233 is awesome watch and that dome is icing on the cake. Oh and the dot is even way better.

If you look at the OPs photos above, in the 9 o’clock seconds subdial there is a green dot that is an AM/PM indicator for the GMT hand. The GMT hand on this model is a 12 hour hand.
The newer models of the 233 don’t have a dot, they have an additional hand in there that points to the left or right indicating AM and PM.
The dot is a more elegant solution in my opinion, it used to command a bit of a premium as well.

Thank you for your explanation Brian. It makes sense.

I prefer the newer version to the dot-dial but it's personal preference, that's all. Either one is cool and there's no wrong choice.
