5167 and 5711 being discontinued?
Is there any material chance these models are being discontinued? On the one hand it seems as though Patek has drastically cut production. On the other hand, both are highly sought after so it would be a bit odd.
Saw that 5168 is now 42mm, perhaps Aquanaut is getting upsized in steel as well? |

It is patek's habit to produce limited numbers and not flood the market. That is why finding them is absolutely hard. But that doesn't mean that they are discontinued

to me it seems less like a production cut by Patek and more that demand has gone way up. Part of that is due to the speculation that the 5711 is going to be discontinued, which hasn't helped.

I agree that they limit production, obviously, but prices have gone up rapidly over the last 6 months or so, not because of typical low production, but because of lack of production relative to the already low output. 5167 used to go for $15-16k used, now way higher and very difficult to source a new one relative to 6 months ago. The 5711 is now going for double list. Last year I could heave easily got one for $25k. Now, impossible.

AFAIR TS said in an interview he may cease production on the Nautilus one time but I think it s a fair assumption that he won t quit offering one of the most(if not the most) iconic model of the brand , someone already mentioned here that might be they will upgrade the model as it happened before but i really doubt they will stop to producit for good.

I have no doubts whatsoever that both will be discontinued at some point. ALL references are eventually discontinued. Now, does that mean they will stop producing the Aqua and Nautilus watches in the foreseeable future? Certainly not. But ‘5711’ and ‘5167’ as such will go away at some point, like 3700, 3800, 3712, etc... To your point on a possible 5168A replacing 5167A sooner rather than later, I also anticipated that this might be the case. I much prefer the dimensions of the 5167, but we all have to be realistic that it will be discontinued at some point in time.
