Wait...another disaster after that world-famous 11/59 debacle. Too big too thick too weird - if you want t do a proper re-issue, dont make the classic case with tear-drop lugs with proportions of Off-shore (and as thick as it is). The original looks very elegant and well proportioned this is the opposite of it. Don't even get me started on the price tag. I'd take VC Cornes De Vache in any metal over this - AP should send a few folks to intern over at VC to learn how to do the re-edions properly. #rantover

Not interested at all. Ridiculously over priced for what it offers and the TT case is a huge turn-off.

From AP’s website..... looks like it has picked up quite a bit of weight around the mid-section during the confinement..... ;-)

Had the chance to try it today in HK and I have to say it is way better in the “flesh” than the photos/videos. Very nice elegant classic dial yet colorful, scarifying legibility which is quite poor I have to say, the two tone case is not too shocking but you need to experience it in different light environments to get a better feel for it. I am a big fan of thin watches and I was somewhat pleasantly surprised by the thickness which was surprisingly manageable on my 17cm wrist and yes it did slide easily under my cuff thanks to the round design. Definitely a big improvement from the Code 11.59 but the price point is quite high for this piece, I would have seriously considered it at 15kUSD$ to 20kUSD$ less than the current list price.

Sorry didn’t take any pics, I only take pics of watches I own for some reasons, I have no clue why, maybe some silly superstition...situation in HK is actually quite OK, all things relative, shops are open, restaurants are open, cannot gather more than 4 people, absolutely everyone wears a mask, parks are partially opened and schools remain closed, still no traveling without quarantine when you come back, we just recorded our 5th straight day with a single digit increase of cases, ”only” 1 new case yesterday.

To go back to your question, yes absolutely watches are available for everyone to try on and all of our favorite watches boutiques are operating almost normally.

I keep going back to this watch and keep thinking the same thing. I LOVE the dial. I mean love it. I do not mind the TT, as I have always had a soft spot for TT. I cannot believe how thick it is. Brick. I cannot fathom why they did not make it manual. I am most incredulous over what they decided to charge for it. 50K is absurd.

I tried this on last week and did take pics - will update when my post count permits.

Way too thick, yep, but the bowl shape and short lugs make it surprisingly comfortable on the wrist.

TT non-issue. AP RG on SS (e.g. on the 15450) is muted, and this is no exception. The dial's copper tones are so saturated that the bezel almost fades into the background.

I love the sunken sub-dials - deep and bold.

I'm sorry, but that looks ridiculous on the wrist and wonder what AP are doing creating such a watch. I also think it looks rather femine, particularly because of the lug design.

The only element I do like is the dial, which I wouldn't change, but all the supportive stuff is a wide miss.

Those wrist shots do not do it any favors. Brick thick. Looks like a DeepSea. I want to love this, because the dial is spectacular, but overall execution, and price, are a huge miss.

So we have a popular dial here and case on the Code, just need some super-modders here to create the ultimate new AP chrono.

I do agree on the in to out style lugs when on the wrist, does look feminine.

Would keep it two toned, but with white and rose gold

You need to see it in the flesh. The two tone is much more harmonious than it appears in some of the photos in this thread. I also don’t think of it as a dress watch, rather more akin to my JLC 1968 Tribute to Polaris with a beautiful domed crystal.

For me with the gold dial I'd go WG, for a black dial, RG.

I know RG, esp in the sun or bright lights, fades down to look like SS, but in indoor mild lights this will look very rose and then the contrast is palpable.

I don’t like to be negative about my favourite brand but but on this occasion it needs saying.....it’s really not an attractive looking watch imo.

Is this the playbook now?

1) check past 30yrs auction for own brand watches that sold above a quarter million bucks at auctions.
2) Hype it up by displaying at own museum.
3) Bloat it using 100yr newer technology, when they could have gone the other way and actually made it half as thick. because people today want oversized watches (??).
4) Sell it at an absurd price. they only need to find 30 or so people who will buy literally anything AP limited edition. this should not be an issue.
5) Win!

I can see pricing make some sense such a limited piece, but why didn't they go thinner? it looks like a 300yr old pocket watch with some lugs welded to it lol....
