Explorer 1016...fake dial or bad relume?
Hi
I’ve spotted this 1016 offered at a pretty low price, sold « as is », supposedly by someone who inherited it and doesn’t know what it is apart being an explorer... I can’t really see a problem with the dial’s fonts but the indexes look odd, especially the « 6 » looking almost full with a very small hole...What can it be from? Is it a bad relume problem? Or a full fake dial? Thanks, trying to gain some knowledge here! Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk |

However, there is a chance that it is just a bad re-lume or a fake dial, so the only real way to tell is to get pictures of the movement, or at least a shot from between the lugs, in my humble judgement.

To be offered at a said "low price" and as an "as is" sale would definitely warrant me suspicion and skepticism as the buyer. Would you really want to sacrifice quality and possibly authenticity to save money? I would be patient, save your money, and buy the one you want while also knowing it is 100% authentic.

I really think the guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The initial ad was at a ridiculously low price (for a genuine 1016) around 3k€...I sent him a message with some questions, as others probably did, and the new ad is now at 12,5k
I don’t think he knows he’s selling crap... Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk |

In my opinion, one tell here is the hands. They're too short. They should reach past the seconds markers, like this picture below from Hoodinkee.
The other thing that bothers me is that the pictures are blurry. Last, to me the Crown logo - the hole is too small and too narrow. |
