Singapore trip

Soon I will be going to Singapore.
Anyone knows current Rolex SS situation in AD’s?
Any particular places worth trying?

Bad, most if not all AD doesn't have stocks for the sport model.

I'm open to being corrected here but even if they did have anything in stock there would be a premium on the price. I think it's similar to here in Thailand where they don't have to sell at MSRP so they can tack on big premiums. It's probably not as big a premium as a grey dealer but it can be significant.

Wasnt Singapore the place where the AD would put then in the case for show but not selling? I believe so, so if you want to see then in real life and try them on to decide which one you like best go for it and report back with pictures! :)

Only if I can find some even in the show case.
I believe there are very many AD’s in Singapore?

This was the case up to a couple of years ago. Rolex put a stop to that and ADs have to sell at MSRP and not more.

Was in Singapore last week. Nothing apart from Datejusts at every AD. They do display all the professional models SS DaytonaC / Pepsi / Hulk etc with a sign ‘display only, not for sale’. This is from the feedback from locals saying ‘we don’t know what the SS professional models look/feel like cos there is never a chance to see them’.

Agree with the above, I’m in HK at the moment.. you walk 10meters from one AD to the next and all you see is Datejusts (SS Yatchmaster if your lucky - but sold within the same day), then you come across private dealers and you can pick whatever professional SD model you want (at a premium of course). Flipping in HK is huge, everyone wants to make a quick dollar. I was in one of the ADs and overheard a lady in her 70’s saying “Pffft no stainless steel models at all - from looking at the showroom” and walked back out with arrogance. So to this point, I feel watch collectors especially ones in HK are unfortunate unless you want to pay up.

I've recently moved to Singapore from the UK, nothing much in the AD's.

Also I struggle to go in and even have a enthusiastic conversation with the staff. Shame really.

You might want to look at some used watch dealers...

No, not really. I haven't seen any in months but I gave up going in to check. You would see the occasional one like a OP or Milgauss but not very often. Whether they are out back in the vaults waiting to be bundled I'm not sure but they are not in the display cases that I know of.

The best thing to do is go around the second hand/vintage dealers. Much more fun and you actually get to see some watches
