Anyone pick up the new SEIKO Turtle Diver yet?

I have the 007, but thinking about the Turtle as well. I think I would like / prefer the hand-winding option.

The gilt dial might be an interesting option, but I've heard of the misalignment issue with the dial / Bezel being more common on that model.

At any rate, wondering what folks think - who now have them.

I do know SEIKO are putting out a "Pepsi" color scheme on the Turtle, but they will be a limited edition and about a hundred bucks more.

I'd love to but I'm not sure it will look good on my wrist as it's 44mm. I already have the 007 (42mm) and the smaller 013 (38mm) so I will not get the turtle any time soon.

I agree, wish they weren't so big and thick

I heard they curve round the wrist a bit...sort of like some large Panerai, so the size is not too much of a deterrent.

I must admit that I do like the shape of the case and thought that they might be a little too big for my wrist (about six and three quarter inches). Now that you mention that they curve down over ones wrist I may have to revisit that decision.

They don't curve around the wrist like some of the baby tunas, the back of the case chamfers upward at the edges so as your wrist rolls with the watch the case isn't bothersome and so the large size of the case isn't a problem in fact it's very comfortable. A very good watch and comes with the better soft silicone strap. No alignment problem on mine but the hand and dial lume are a slightly different colour which is a bit odd.

I really want to get one but I'm struggling with the idea of paying $500 for a Seiko. Trust me, I know all about Grand Seiko's and all of the excellent JDM models (that are well worth the premium) but all of these new Prospex models seems to be grossly overpriced to me.

I know the Turtle watches are an awesome throwback to a previous model but they physically aren't different enough from the SKX divers to warrant double the price.

They ought to be had for 250-300 preowned within a years time. They're already going at $430-ish new.

$469 on Amazon...

I do think that's a pretty good price for a mechanical / hand wind movement with Seikos build quality. That matte dial and humongous lume plots are very nice.

I like my 42mm 007...though it gets little wrist time. I don't "need" the darn thing, but I thought it would be fun to change up The Turtle with some 22mm black, olive and striped NATOs.

I have thought of picking one up, but they are too pricey still. You can get a Sumo for the same price right now.

I guess the price will come down after a while, I will rethink it then.

The seiko store immediately offered me a 25% discount on one a few weeks ago. I wanted to buy it for my dad's birthday but decided on something else. It is a really nice watch in person.

I caved and mine showed up yesterday. I really like the shade of blue that Seiko uses on it. The bracelet was ok. I would prefer it to taper to 20mm at clasp because the 22mm clasp looks big. The crown was big and a joy to use and wind.

Seikos must be more expensive in the states. Makes sense but have just gotten used to paying a premium for virtually everything living in Asia.

$300 here.

Ok, I broke down and ordered a SRP773 Blurtle. These are too much of a great value to pass up. And as usual, I've ordered some parts to customize.

I have several Seiko divers and love them all. The build quality is fantastic. Plus the lume is so strong you can use it like a flashlight, I'm serious

Very nice!

The hands & dial are all the same as the SKX series. Never been a fan of these Seiko hands so have a new handset and sapphire crystal in transit.

That's good to know :)

I am waiting for the brushed aluminum chapter ring to become available, and I will also replace the second hand and with sapphire crystal like you do :)

Yep, bought an SRP777 for myself for Christmas (and trying hard to wait for it).

Got mine via Kohl's (somewhere I never shop, but they are an authorized retailer). Factoring in the sale price + Discover CB + Kohl's Cash (and I made them price match a couple days later because it dropped in price on their site), I have $175 in it.

I can feel more Seiko's coming my way in the future, too.
