There will be a spike in used prices as greys raise prices automatically, then it's a question of market forces and esp what replaces it if anything.

I'd say just as important is the amount of wealth that is willing to buy and ofc then show off the money they have spent on watches has gone thru the roof. It is like the TRF enabling effect has gone viral. We used to be a closed club, not anymore.

I actually think this is going to raise all nautilus prices. As the white goes up so will the blue. A rising tide raises all boats

Yes. Once the Rolex fanboys (bear in mind production is 20x Patek) get their fill of one upping their buddies of PM Yellow Daytona and Day Dates and Hulks and Batman/Batgurls and Sky Dwellers and Pepsis and Daytonas what is the natural next frontier?

APs, Pateks are truly the only "limited" models available that are both practical, beautiful and have an amazing brand in the $50k to $100k price point (excluding RM which is abit more).

Look to see an uptick in Patek Sports, AP sports (exotic materials) in 2020.

Not in the US.

I've seen many Steel Nautiluses sitting in glass boxes in the mid-2010's. No discount, though.

The same was the case for Rolexes - Hulks, Batman, Steel sports as early as 2016/2017 - you could even get a discount and some of these were trading below MSRP. I don't think we're going back there anytime soon.

I think instagram and social media has significantly increased the desirability of these watches. I don't think we're going back there ever again to be honest.

Agreed. In fact, when I got my first Hulk, I got it at a discount without even asking. Same goes for my first Batman.

We're definitely not going back there again. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

What I do think is bad is the lack of price controls in that no one's moderating supply to meet the demand. So we're getting into situations where some pieces are literally unobtainium, and those that are profiting are the grey market dealers (vs. the ADs themselves who incur a lot of the burden of carrying a brand and supplying the market).

I would bet my house blue dial 5711s will be under 40k use at some point this decade. Probably within 5 years but I wouldn't bet my house lol

2014 and 2015 Wynn in Las Vegas had a SS blue and a SS white 5711 in stock unsold and they would have sold at a discount. I tried them both on during different visits.

In 2014 AD’s in LA and SF had white dial 5711’s sitting in the case. And the AD in Beverly Hills told me 12% discount.

I got mine in fall of 2015 sitting in a display case with a small discount. They really spiked the next spring I think.

I was there in 2015 or so and they offered me a white 5711 and 5712, either 15% off.

Yeah they had a white 5711 sitting in the display case for like 6 months in 2015. It was there 3 visits in a row and the 3rd time the saleslady tried her hardest to get me to walk out with it. I think the discount offered was 15-20.

My AD had a 5711 and 5980 blue in the window about 5 years ago. Naturally I bought both and nearly bought the 2nd 5980 blue he also had in stock. Hindsight...

White dial prices now well above the blue across Chrono24. Need to settle down.

Longer term time will tell.

Haha, incredible. I see some at $80k and one at $100k.

FOMO

One day they are listing for $50-$55k, the next day they're listing for almost double that.

Definitely, 5980s were offered below list, any dial color you wanted, five years ago.

Now is not the best time to buy the white 5711 from the grey market. Suggest to wait until Baselworld 2020 before making any decision. There should be interesting new release.

The market will decide ,on the other hand look on C24 ,Patek Philippe 5711/1A almost 200pieces waiting for a new owner ,this piece isn t that hot rather highly speculated, one day someone will start to sell and it will fall like Niagara.

Would it be conceivable that Patek discontinue 5711, or just the white dial, and have it come back in a new slightly improved version but only in WG with double retail? Discontinue for a few years and only run WG to capitalise on this market.
