Or they are already spending $100k a year on a bunch of 100% mark up jewelry and getting the watches they want.

I am not in the market for a Daytona (or any Rolex at the moment), but if I was and thought a few hundred dollars in gifts would save me the $15k+ grey market premium I would be a fool to not at least try to gain favor.

I always make a habit of a token gesture for the team, a bit of appreciation goes a long way. Saying thanks is a polite gesture as long as it's not overkill.

In all honesty, if I was to get my holly grail.....yes, but I think they would have to refuse anything of value.

Yes.

I've worked with my SA since 2008. Although I'm on the waiting list for 2 references, I haven't received anything since 2018. Although I know that she doesn't expect anything to support the relationship, I always get her a big box of Godiva Chocolates, only because I want to. I'll probably do that until she no longer works there even if I never get another reference from her.

Depends on the relationship, but for me I’d prefer to give a gift for getting me what I’ve asked for in a short timeframe :)

I was on the phone with my AD today when someone dropped off a gift. The AD said, "we're not supposed to accept gifts" but accepted it. Turned out to be some cheap chocolates.

I said, "Your gift from me when you get me either a BLRO or SS Daytona. Then I will buy the protection warranty plan you keep pushing". I thought it was funny and laughed.

Without missing a beat the AD tried yet again to get me to buy protection coverage for the Tudor Ceramic I just picked up!

Generally the idea of gifting at the store makes me uncomfortable.

Might as well buy them a Rolex too. The thought process around here now is a taco short of a combo meal

Guess I'm a sucker. I have a great AD and I gifted my SA and owner a LV pocket organizer for the holidays. Just to show my appreciation for saving me tens of thousands of dollars. I could never afford any of these watches paying grey market prices. This year they got a pink OP for my wife, a Sub and recently the black Daytona for me. They said a green sub is coming. The waitlist is long and they could have allocated these watches to others but they sold them to me so I don't think a couple of hundred dollars gift isn't anything crazy. They also gifted me watch rolls the past few years. Great ADs are out there.

This is an odd concept to me. A think a simple thank you card would suffice. If you don't gift your local butcher for the steaks you bought or the gas station attendant for the fuel you purchased, why would you gift a sales assistant at a Rolex AD. You are spending multiple thousands of dollars, that should be gift enough.

An SA got me a Sub within a month of first contact with no purchase history. He liked that I was buying the watch to celebrate my 10th wedding anniversary. He used that info to talk his manager into letting the watch go to a new customer. So when the SA told me he was a new dad, I sent him a sweet little hooded baby towel.

Be the change you want to see.

That's a nice story and a thoughtful and appropriate gesture. I like it.

Especially because you got the watch as a first purchase!

Yes. We gift a number of people. Some of my clients give gifts to me. It's not compulsory.

Why would I gift someone that I am practically giving thousands of dollars ...the commission they make is their gift from me. They should be gifting me.
