If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any

I have just broken the screen on my 4th iPhone 7+ in the past 6 weeks. I've had an otterbox, life proof, survivor and no case. Doesn't seem to matter. I haven't been dropping them or abusing them. Before that I've had iPhones since the release date in 2007 and never broke a single screen.

No I'm just getting really tired and had to vent somewhere I don't understand how 3 of the screens broke. My sisters new puppy chewed on it and cracked the glass but I honestly have no idea about the others and the fact I didn't break a phone for 10 years...

Well the simple solution is stop buying iPhones and get something else!
Motorola Droid Turbo 2 for example.

I've dropped my 4s, 5s, and SE on concrete, asphalt, and tile from several feet up multiple times without a case and they made it. There were some cosmetic blemishes but the screen was fine.

The actual screen this time is ok. Just the glass is shattered. I know I can get it repaired vs having to get a new phone this time. But I have seriously cut a thumb and index finger on this broken glass.

Clearly it is time to try Android, specifically Samsung!

Is the android construction any better? It seems the size is the issue, not so much the materials.

The plus I found was that when dropped the back and battery would come out. Thus releases energy otherwise transferred into the ridged phone. But the Note 2 I had started coming apart all the time which was annoying.

Well Androids just the OS but of the variety of phones that run it most are significantly more durable.

Also the current iPhone 7 is 17% thinner than its predecessor which contributes to it's fragility.

What you need is a tempered glass screen protector.

A drop will cause the screen protector to shatter, but the screen itself won't be damaged in most cases.

Never those film protectors. Always tempered glass.

I had a tempered glass zagg screen protector the guy at Best Buy assured me it was the best of the best. Went 6 months without an issue and then boom shattered the screen and the zagg protector didn't do anything! Total waste!

x2

Daughter went hiking and dropped her iPhone face down on a rock. The tempered glass screen protector got a "star" on it about half the size of a dime (similar to what you get on the windshield of a car). Pulled off the screen protector and the screen was just fine. Replaced the screen protector and was good as new.

Bad luck. I have a 7 plus that I bought the day it came out and I’ve dropped it 20+ times from heights as high as 5 ft. Not even a crack. I don’t use screen protectors or cases.

I know the feeling. I was on a hot streak for years and then broke my iPhone 7 screen twice in the past year or so. I should mention I drop it all the time and never use any sort of protection

I've never had a case for any iPhone dating back to the first one. I've broken the screen 3 times in the 10 years so I feel pretty lucky but the best part is that I've only paid for one of them. The other two times, the genius bar asked if there was anything else wrong with the phone and ended up replacing it under warranty.

The weird part is that the screen seems to break after the smallest, most benign drop rather than the ones that send the phone down 20 feet down the sidewalk.

I bought a case for my iPhone 6S because thats the one I give my son if I need to bribe him for a quiet dinner

Paul I just saw this and you have hit the nail on the head. Gotta find that happy medium. I guess if I'm not drinking I'm short tempered and fly off the hinges and if I'm drinking it's just a total sh&t show. Haha. Work some play harder..... is that how it goes. Or wait don't work just party. Heck I can't remember. Good news is I'm on my new phone for a
month with no problems. I hired a retired secret agent to protect it. Gets pricy and now I eat ramen every day but my phone is ok!!!!!
