I saw an albino squirrel yesterday.....

And I'm gonna treat it like an omen. No not that Omen, a good omen.

2020 has been a pretty sucky year for me, and I never really did yearly autopsies before. I've never celebrated New Years because I tend to buy 16 month calendars and Jan 1 is just a simple page turn. I don't take the years personally, BUT 2020 really sucked.

My sister died in January 2020, I was in Hawaii in March when Covid shut down California, (I know, poor me) and my wife was dumped from her job of 24 years in Sept.

And now we are being expelled from wine country for lack of consumption due to my wife and I reducing our socializing and we failed to meet our quotas. I'm sure they figure if you can't hit your quotas in a year that would drive anyone to drink, you surely won't hit them in a normal year. No hard feelings, I get it, there are rules here and we failed to meet expectations.

So after 20 years here we are possibly heading back down to Southern California to where it all began....swimming pools, movie stars. That location hasn't been exactly determined yet, but there are some job offers.

But don't cry for me Argentina, everything is still great, and I got to see an albino squirrel yesterday. Made my year.

And no it wasn't a cat. Ya think I'd write a post about a stupid cat. What is this Facebook??

It's been a crazy year to say the least. We have had our challenges as well. Hope that we all come out a little stronger and wiser eventually.

All the best.

Did you know the chances of seeing an albino squirrel are one-in-100,000?

Remember, you always have that hug waiting for you, brother!

When living in wine country there is an expectation that you will consume the product to help with the economy. When you fail to pull your own weight, you are politely let to the county line and told to have a nice life. Elsewhere.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

And I got no pictures of the squirrel, he was in a bit of a rush. But he did cross the road, and climb up on a fence post, and stare at me for a bit, all nicely backlit and proud, I guess knowing how special he was.. (One in 100,000). And it was Chalk Hill Road which is sort of fitting. (Chalk--white.....never mind)

Wow - never heard of wine quotas needing to be hit or face eviction, is that part of a local bylaw or is it to do with living on a private estate where the rules are the rules ?

I also hoped for a lucky day at the weekend as was gifted upon by a passing seagull. Unfortunately it was on my newest jacket which I had to wash in the machine as dry cleaners are closed due to lockdown #2 so i won’t get to enjoy the original soft fabric as long as I had hoped. At least it wasn’t on one of my shearling collar coats, so dodged a splodge there as don’t think it would have ever come out.

Anyway, long story short, no special luck has been forthcoming (yet) !

I think 2021 will be difficult and honestly can imagine things being worse for the macro economic situation as things really catch up & bite. Health wise, let’s hope the vaccines are as efficacious as claimed and can be rolled out quickly.

I think 2021 will be a awesome and even better year then 2020 for us economically wise. See no reason why 2021 will not be bustling and just bursting with growth and opportunity... And do not even have to listen to the internet experts on "STOCKS" that still crack me up to this day with the fancy jargon where each one of them try to out do the other with their internet wisdom on stocks and bonds ..HAH

Pineapple wine is a little tough though.

Sure would be nice to have a TRF’er there though.

They may serve it there but they sure don't grow it there.

I'd stick to the coffee.

But you're right the island is calling.

Those with means already will be fine - but I’m thinking about all the looming job loses round the corner. Certainly big news and risk on that front in the UK of late.

Not sure ‘high street’ retail will ever quite bounce back as it’s been in steady decline for years.

No that's just California.

Every house in wine country has a quota.

And we have to put up with the grapes screaming every fall as they're having the lifeblood squeezed out of them.

It ain't all babes and palm trees.

A somber post but I can’t help but laugh at this wine quota lol

This is like me being kicked out of Buffalo for not eating enough fried chicken.

Yeah it has been a crappy year. I lost three of my four grandparents. I’m incredibly lucky to still have one grandpa, in the San Diego area.

And my wife and I are expecting our first child in April!

As you’ve alluded to, it’s definitely a good time to look at the bright side!

Ps, my has a bit of history in the California wine business!

This past August, while visiting Santa Fe, I saw a lizard with two tails. Next day my girlfriend and I contacted a real estate agent, bought a house, went back to New York City, called the movers and fled to New Mexico. Been happy ever since.
