I've actually come across two owners over the years, both proper Patek collectors. They are out there, being worn :)

I can't remember the exact user name I remember seeing the user posted a few times. @incontrol or something.

@jon_jon has the 5650 as his avatar. Not sure if he has one though.

gotcha. I see the ones on gray market sell for hundreds of thousand $. That would be the ultimate grail Aquanaut for me but not realistic for my budget haha. I’ll stick with 5167a that i really like.

I own one. But didn’t get it at retail. Paid a premium. A much more reasonable premium than today. Bought it from my AD who bought it back from the original client who got it.

I have the full set of AR watches, all unworn, all bought in one transaction from my AD as mentioned before. The original owner, a very big PP collector, traded them in to buy some MRs, and my AD ended up selling them to me. Haven’t worn any of them, I don’t really love any of them. The 5650 is special, but never fell in love with it. At some moment, will probably sell the entire set. It did put me very much on the radar screen of my AD, and that has resulted in many watches i do like a lot like the 5740 and some rare handcraft pieces.

I do love and frequently wear the 5164a and 5168g (blue and green). And I would love a 5650g with a plain blue dial as the smaller size vs the 5168g suits me better. Just not a fan of the cutout. AP does openworked better imo.

well my gosh you got a great little collection of aquanauts! I must say i really only like the 5167a and the 5650. 5167a will probably be the only aquanaut i own though. (still saving). by the way what was the MSRP on the 5650 when it came out?

I love the aquanauts and am fortunate to own a number of them. 5065a, 5167a, 5164a...all great classics.

5650g was fairly cheap. I think around 50k.

I posted a photo of my 5650G several years ago. I was very lucky to receive an allocation. However at the time, a lot of people shunned it calling it the "Terminator". I assume they were the same people who called an Aquanaut the "poor man's Patek" a few years before that.

$50k? that sounds like a steal. i’ve seen one unworn and still sealed from a gray for $395k. insane.

I turned down an allocation at the time, not because I didn’t like it but because I was chasing other pieces. One wrist, so little time. Great piece.
