Over its more than 260-year history, the watchmaker has gone from strength to strength, having its watches certified by the prestigious Geneva Seal. Astute watch collectors hold Vacheron Constantin in the highest regard. It is considered one of the “holy trinity” of Swiss watchmakers, along with Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe.” “The origins of this watch go back to 1921, when Vacheron Constantin created a limited series of watches just for American motorists. The idea was to create a watch optimized for reading with your hands on the steering wheel, so the dial was rotated to place it at the correct angle for easy viewing. The crown was also placed in the upper corner of the cushion-shaped case, giving the watch an extremely unique profile. This tribute retains those important design features, while increasing the size of the red gold case to a substantial 40mm diameter. The scrolling Arabic numerals, pomme-style hands, and refined chapter ring give the dial a ton of personality too. Inside is the Vacheron Constantin Caliber 4400AS, a manually-wound movement with traditional architecture and top-tier finishing. The entire watch is certified with the Geneva Seal, meaning it is made to the highest standards of construction and decoration right in the Canton of Geneva.” |
