Clean up classifieds
When a product is sold and no longer available why not delete it so we don't keep seeing it advertised? Hayman4353

That's an interesting idea...
Mods, any particular reasons why we keep the for sale threads on sold items up?

I'm on another forum that has a similiar look/web format as this forum. The other forum has a selling area and when an item is sold, the orig. poster can go up to the "thread tools" at the top of the website and close the thread. When the thread is closed/locked, it is automatically moved to the "Graveyard" which is another sub-forum that shows all closed items that were for sale and were sold or taken off the selling area.
You could also have your watch selling area divided into sub-forums instead of grouped into one area: Rolex, Omega, etc. Plus you could also have a separate sub-forum for WTB items vs. WTS items. And how about a separate forum/sticky thread showing posting of a member's watch collection? That way the orig. poster can start a thread for his/her own collection, get comments from others, and then keep posting on his thread any additional pics of his/her collection. |

I'm on another forum that has a selling area. When I've sold an item, I can go up to the "thread tools" and close the thread, and then it's automatically moved to a sub-forum called the "Graveyard" that will show all closed threads. This other forum uses the same format as the Rolex Forums, so it could be set up in a similar manner.
Plus in the selling area, there could be WTS sub-forums specific to a type of watch: Rolex, Omega, etc. and also a WTB sub-forums. Also, you could have a separate stickie area when members could start their own thread showing their collections. Just a few thoughts.... copying it from my other forum site, but it works really well and again uses the same web format as this Rolex Forum site. |

Sorry about my double post.... it didn't seem to go through at first, so I retyped it again.

Its handy to have the old sales threads so you can refer to them and get an idea of the going price for a particular watch.
Useful if you are selling or buying. |
