Rolex Sub; Buy black or wait for Hulk?
Hi guys,
Sorry if asking a repeat question. I have been looking for Hulk for quite long and In touch with my local dealer, although no success for Hulk. Are we expecting new models release in September and any chances Hulk might be discontinued? Secondly, if offered a black submariner instead, would you guys recommend getting it OR wait for Hulk? Just trying to get some opinion from watch enthusiasts here 😊 Appreciate your input! Stay healthy and safe |

Get what you want, not what you’re offered. Or you’ll be reminded of the compromise every time you see the time.

What’s your purchase history at the AD? An MSRP Hulk isn’t gonna happen for you if you’re turning down the bones they throw you.
Also, have you seen the Hulk in person next to the black Sub to know for sure you love the watch and not the hype? I love my Hulk as part of my collection, but if I was going to have only one Rolex, it’d be a black Submariner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The LVc is stunning, but it’s not going to suit all situations, which the black sub will. Only buy what you really want, if it’s the LVc then go grey, or wait a very long time. |

Thanks for chiming in. I really feel for these guys having no idea what they’re walking into when they focus on getting the hype piece at MSRP. I was after a Pepsi until I saw it next to a Root Beer in the metal, and that’s all it took for me to get over the SS Pepsi. Sometimes you gotta buy the watch and live with it to know if it’s gonna work for you. I actually love the GMT so much that I’m thinking of going after a meteorite Pepsi and leaving the Daytona shenanigans to everyone else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sounds like you want the hulk. Buy whaz you want. If you're going to get a watch get your first pick, not your second.

[QUOTE=Rolex_fan2020;10808093]Hi guys,
Sorry if asking a repeat question. I have been looking for Hulk for quite long and In touch with my local dealer, although no success for Hulk. It sucks what you’ve been going through OP. I really hope you do land your dream watch. Unfortunately the hard reality is the AD is going to offer the hulk to a client with very good purchase history. The longer you wait the more expensive the Hulk will be on the grey market. It’s at its record high right now on chrono24. At this point I would hold and not buy (grey market) until the new releases on September 1. It’s a bit of a gamble because if the watch is not discontinued that means you have another year to try to get the watch. But if it is discontinued, it will probably go for $20k for an unworn brand new. |

I bought the ND black so that I could still wait for the Hulk, yet still have a sub. I don’t plan on getting the SS Sub date black dial.

I think if you really want something, you would go to any length to achieve it. Don’t get what you are offered, get exactly what you want.

OP, your post is misleading.
What you wrote sounds like you are being offered a black sub for immediate purchase but you are willing to forego the sub to wait for a Hulk to appear in your name. Or are you saying you have to wait for either and you are on the fence about which model to wait for? Which is it? |

If you have to wait for both. My preference is the Black Submariner. I’m not a fan of the Hulk. I would get tired of the green dial, and bezel.

you'll have to wait for both but the black one is made of 18 karat unobtanium to a new walk in customer and the LV is pure 24 Karat unobtanium
your only choice is paying the 100% mark up on the grey market if you want the hulk in this decade - if you want it that badly its worth it for my 2c worth - buy the black one especially at msrp as you will make a profit if you ever do get a hulk at msrp - and you might well find the black one is all you need / want anyway

Black all the way.
The green does not look all that great after it is broken in. |

For everyone (including OP if he is still in the market). This is not a direct criticism or rant.....
1. Nobody here knows what will be released in September. Any comments are ALL speculation, even the "My AD said.....", speculation. Ask the cashier at Walmart the same question and you'd have the similar odds (for the most part). 2. Buy what you would like to wear. If I like the sub and encourage you to buy it, and you do, then what are you going to do if you don't like it? Same is with the other scenario. I understanding asking, but you are getting the preference of another person for the watch you are going to wear. For me, I'd rather choose what I like and buy it. I think it is best to ask technical questions (movement history, reserve time, lug width, etc.) that may influence your choice versus the random "help me choose" that we see posted numerous times a week. |

I turned down a black sub because I really want a hulk. I knew if I settle for the black one I’ll never be fully satisfied until I get the green one.
