Do Rolex ADs sell specialty daytona straps?
Hey guys, does anyone know if it's easy to source the really cool 116589-SALV red strap (pictured)? I think the red would look so cool on my friend's 116518 similar to the photo attached. Whatcha think of that extra spice? Considering buying it for him since we've been friends for years.
Does anyone know if you can get these at the AD and if Rolex will even sell you one? How about price, is there a premium on these rare model straps? |

Not entirely sure where you can source those straps from. You should confirm that your friend is into the idea of changing straps. I know a lot of people around here are really against it.

Rolex factory for factory. That's where the fun is at ahah.. He's been talking about some aftermarket ones for awhile. Do you think red would work?

Generally speaking, if it was not offered as an option for his watch, they will not sell you one. I would imagine this would be even more the case when it's a specialty strap since there is no way your AD stocks that.

I think they'll only sell the straps if you come with the watch it's meant for and even then replacement only. You can say you were cleaning the watch and lost the strap if you come with the watch though. I mean I was once told spring bars are replacement only at an AD. I didn't follow through with it, but if it's the case you can't really expect them to just sell you a strap.

In That photo the red starp is a Rolex strap. Call an AD and ask if they can order. Problem is they will usually ask for watch serial number and get parts for the specific watch. Not sure if they will have a catalog of straps to make your choice. Other brands will have a catalog and you can make a choice of strap, but Rolex is Rolex. Or, search the web for the Rolex part number for that red strap and see if someone can order or if you can find for sale.

Why not just have a custom strap made?
You can pretty much dictate everything on the fully bespoke option. |

I do not think Ferrari is in the tire business so you would have to buy tires from a tire manufacturer to Ferrari spec. Same for Rolex, I believe they outsource their straps from a high quality strap maker, so finding a correct fitting strap from a similar high end strap maker should be fine.

I got Rolex Java Lizard straps from the RSC in San Francisco, alas they’re no longer an independent but licensed through Rolex RSC, but maybe they can get Rolex straps, they service Rolex, must have a parts account?
There’s also Camille Fournet, very nice straps.

Just out of curiosity... Asking for a friend... Where should tires come from for a Ferrari? I, sorry I mean my friend, might have been doing something wrong all this time.
Even so called Italian tires like Pirelli more often than not aren't manufactured in Italy... Just thought it was par for the course in this global world? F1 tires, perhaps the pinnacle of Italian rubber at present, are made in Romania... There's a fun fact for the day! |

Meh, would rather have Michelin. Better grip, especially in the twisties. :)

A Meteorite Daytona encrusted with rubies needs 'extra spice'?

I don't own a Ferrari. I'm not rich like you.
