Pp 5940g
What do you guys think?
Is this a "Patek" Patek? I tried to find info but not much (I looked up the yellow gold version). I find the "cushion" shape strangely appealing. Any info, experiences, pics are welcomed. I included two pics from Hodinkee web site (thx guys): http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/patek-philippe-5940g Thx. |

I too find it appealing. I love the Art Deco shape, and the Breguet numerals.

fyi Wempe had one in the window when i visited yesterday. but, would prefer a manual movement over a 240 or 324 movement at that price point.

The 5940 wears small on my 6 3/4" wrist. I really like the thin profile and the cushion shape.

I don't usually like this case shape but that is pretty sharp looking.

Patek has made several cushion shaped PCs before, IIRC. It was a bold move by Patek to bring out the 5940 in yellow gold first as it is not a popular metal color. I assume the white gold will sell better.

Oh yeah
What's not to like? To me it looks terrific and to your question, very much a Patek, Patek!

yes
Yes, I really love it. Ben was right when he said the 5940G will likely be a niche player, selling to those who may already own a round perpetual calendar.
I have the 5140g and I would love to pair this 5940g with my 5140g someday. Love the breguet numerals! |

That is a stunning watch! I also love the J version and it is such a classic design and look! The G is nice but the J is superb in this specific reference!

I like it! Had a chance to try the yellow gold version at my AD and it is a supercomfortable watch to wear. It comes with the traditional buckle and this certainly helps.

Not a big fan of Breguet numbers. For some reason I associate Breguet numbers with the cheapo Timex watches from when I was a kid in the 70's (they were black numbers on a white dial). So if you say it's just in my head, you're right!
