Icon5 Rolex Datejust 116233 launch year?

Hey guys, traweld the net and forum to find accurate info on when the DJ 16233 was faded out and 116233 introduced - but failed to find anything definite!

A guestimation from checking out watches on Ebay would seem to indicate around 2004-2005. Can anyone confirm that?

Many thanks for reading - Im sure there's someone savy that can put me straight!

No one can give a accurate date for when the 116233 started to appear but around Sept 2004 is close enough. Not a lot has changed with the DJ since the 16233 back in 1988 its the same movement only main difference a few fonts and minor cosmetic details.

Nice one guys, thats just what I needed to complete my research on this model!

Am I then right in assuming that this change you mention (from the previous series) as from 1988 coincides with the DJ getting sapphire glass?
