Rolex 1601 Bezel Help!
Hi all!
I've recently got hold of a Rolex Datejust 1601. Looks authentic everywhere to me when I got it. But in recent times, i've just noticed that the bezel is "tarnishing"? Refer to the photos that are attached :) The "tarnish" is at the 9 o clock mark on the bezel. Is my bezel a fake one or does this normally happen to gold fluted bezels? Or if it isn't tarnish, what is it? or anyone knows how do i clean it and stuff? :/ Any kind of help/advice would be greatly appreciated! :) Many thanks in advance! |

I think that bezel may have had some repair work done. See the reed at the 9 o'clock marker looks kind of split. Old Rolex gold can tarnish mostly because of the metals used to achieve the caret rating, copper is usually the culprit.
None of that matters as that gorgeous old Rolex deserves a fresher bezel with sharper flutes. :) |

I've heard great things about the Singapore RSC. They might sell you a bezel or they may insist on a service to go with it. Very nice bezels are available used for around 250-300 US sometimes under 200.
