Roadkill 5513

The seller is misrepresenting this as unpolished. I think we should debate this at length!

That will buff right out! Seriously now. Very difficult to salvage anything. Maybe some screws.

If you click on product details it mentions having a built in alarm...described exactly like the sub listed on EBay a few months back..strange

Okay I'm confused. What exactly would someone do with that watch? If you sent it back to Rolex what would they offer to do for you?

The seller tried sending it to RSC. There is a receipt stating they they couldn’t repair it.

Sad to see, but someone will probably do something with it. Maybe even rebuild it? Did you guys see that one thread about the roadkill Air King 116900 that got rebuilt? Definitely not as bad as this one, but hopefully a similar story will breathe new life into this 5513 someday.

This particular example exhibits honest wear.

I would suggest a light clean up with a damp cloth and put it on a bond style nato. Good to go. Whatever you do, DON'T polish it!

A polished case is more criminal than running it over with a truck...wait...nevermind.

Why not burn it in a house fire?

Throw everything away, but Keep the back, and inscribe some made up fake celebrity nonsense and give it to a reputable auction house to sell for millions

Just my 2 cents

It'd work in a glass or plastic paper weight. Other than that, total scrap.

Rolex's Response

Regrettably we cannot provide the service to your watch

No kidding to me it looks like an industrial accident rather than the smashed by a car story, Nah, not buying it, the story or the watch!

The case itself looks like it may be salvageable if the lugs arent bent and possibly the main body of the movement?

The amount of work required to salvage anything off this watch isn’t worth it. Maybe the crown tube lol

I'm more impressed with the bidding price.....in 1988 I paid $900 for a really clean 5512. Makes me wonder what mine is worth now.

It sold for $1,727...for, basically, a heavily scarred, maybe useable case, a couple salvageable links, and maybe some movement pieces.

That case was tweaked for sure.If someone thinks they are going to save it they are mistaken or they will spend so much Time the Numbers Won’t make sense(They already don’t)
