5711+5227. Save a little longer and get a killer duo.

Sorry - typo in poll. (3) should be 5196R (not 5296R)

Option 3 is a nice balance between dressy and sporty. 5196p with Breguets would be tops for me. I find the hobnail bezel a little outdated now.

Blasphemous as it seems to be amongst PP guys, I've never cared for the 5711 (or any other non-round watches), so I chose Option 1.

My current favorite twosome is the Rolex BLRO and PP 5396r-012. I own the former and the latter is next up on my acquisition list.

Agree. Not a huge nautilus fan myself, and the BLRO is a much better all duty watch IMO. The 5196 has an undersized movement for the case size forcing the sub seconds hand centrally. The 5119 is a nice reference but the hobnail bezel can become a bit dated.

Option 1 would be my choice as well.

Choice 1 everyday and twice on Sundays.
Why ? I don’t care much people believe the Nautilus is a sport watch, I am sorry it isn’t.
A Rollie “ true sport watch “ and a Calatrava “ Dressy “ is the best combo ...the other 2 choices you end up with 2 dressy watches imho. A Rollie is key here , with ceramic bezel. 5711 is not dressy not sport , I’ll say a casual watch ...now if all u care is value retention then 5711 can’t be beaten, although good luck finding one. I am so glad that I can’t care less less about 5711/1a. I do like the 5711r , because it falls on a different category of mine , is a “Power Watch “

Cheers good luck , all beautiful watches , you will be fine

Option 1 covers all bases for me. Sporty rugged travel watch which can be worn anywhere and classic beautiful dress watch. If you had paired the BLNR with the 5711, I would have picked that combo.

Love the 5711, love the 5196G

I'd say adding a Rolex GMT or Daytona would make a perfect 3 watch combination

That is a fabulous combo, but out of my price range ...

Fantastic. I love that 3700, but, at the end of the day, I think that there's too much overlap in just these 2. They are, after all, both steel sports watches. True, the 3700 can pass as a dress watch under many circumstances, and many would argue that the 5167 could, too, but neither really is a dress watch.

Many would say, and I would tend to agree, that if you have a Nautilus, an Aquanaut is redundant, especially if you're limited to only two.

Terrific picture. I can really see this as the answer to my poll but for one issue.

I have a white 5711 right now, and when I wear it, I am so aware of it and careful with it. The combination of the brushed and polished surfaces all around my wrist is so stunning and beautiful and I seriously want to avoid tarnishing it with scratches, etc.

I wouldn't have the same concerns with a BLNR as a daily wear watch, and then the valuable Patek would be worn more sparingly on those dressy occasions. So, from a purely practical perspective, I think the BLNR/5227 combo might be the better one.

On the other hand, if one could be perfectly comfortable wearing a 5711 much of the time and not care too much about scratching it, well, then the combo pictured above would be the winner.

I don't think you should over think it. What's the best high end sports watch now -the 5711, why get anything else. What's the best high end / dress watch the Calatrava so get that.
Everyone needs a Rolex for weekends and risky situations , so get a GMT . The GMT is only 6-7k and if you don't like it or need it you can always sell with very little loss

I thought the same for more than 10 years until the Aquanaut arrives a few month ago...Now that I own both, I´ve changed my opinion.

It depends on your personal needs imho. I don´t need a dress a watch for example and where I´m living a watch with a leather strap is really unhandy because of the high temperatures.

On the other way I´ll never auto-limitate me to only two watches. Although the idea of "one man, one watch" is really nice and desireable, in my personal case it would be imposible... :)
