The new JLC Polaris Collection

Did anyone else get the email about the rebirth of this collection?

I noticed the rotor is a silver color. Is JLC phasing out the gold rotor I wonder?

I like the one with the alarm function best, but it's really thick

Yes! I love it! That Polaris Chrono will definitely join the Deep Sea Chrono in my collection this year. Very happy about this!

I like the no date as it’s the only one that may fit me

The new JLC Polaris Collection

I’m salivating over this one. No date, large radial chrono registers, 100m WR, display back, fantastic modern integrated chrono movement. Perfect for me!

The no date is a nice, simple diver. I like what JLC is doing lately with MC collection and now this.

I like the anniversary piece, a good effort at a modern interpretation of the original. And maybe an alarm is one of those 'complications' which are actually useful. Like a GMT or a calendar.

I think the new Polaris collection was the worst at SIHH - possibly a tie with VC’s new collection. Is the watch business in such a sad state that they had to go back 60 years to find inspiration for a new watch? Its 10 years since they released the tribute to the Polaris with fake patina and ruined the imagination for every maker in Switzerland.

Deputy CEO at JLC Said this: “Our customer is a connoisseur, a person who is sophisticated and likes fine things, who doesn’t like bling and is understated, but likes to know where things were made and how they were made,” I mean spend more time coming up with an original design and less time with marketing BS. This is one soulless collection, if I wanted something similar I would buy an Explorer.

mixed feelings. I love the dial on the date version vs the no date, but i prefer it without the date.

Basically i want the date version without a date. So ill probably pass.

Quite like the no date, date's logo is very small, would annoy my eyes.

I was also underwhelmed with the Polaris collection. I am still holding out for a reboot of the master compressor series

agree. Im not sure you can get the no date on rubber though since the watches are different sizes i dont think they are interchangeable. I do think it looks weird on leather. Its a dive watch.

Yeah, not a fan of leather on divers, but with the thin steel bezel it can get away with it better than most.

Not my cup of tea. The most striking line in JLC offerings is still the Duometre.

I saw a few of them in person this month and was underwhelmed. The use of the granular material on the dial made it look cheap and plastic-like. Ruined it for me .

The use of granular contrast for the inner dial is my concern. Will have to see it in person!

I tried a couple of them on this week. The blue dial is just too blue for me, I’d prefer if it were much darker. I really wanted to see the black chrono but they didn’t have one.

The black no-date is really nice, but not compelling enough to get into my wallet.

Your first pic shows the granularity of the outer ring of the dial that I mentioned . It looks so cheap to me and uncharacteristic of JLC. Whoever made that design decision IMO should be demoted.

What is the second crown for on the black one? I have checked it’s user manual online and still not sure.

It’s for rotating the inner bezel.
