Oysterflex & Suncreen
Sunscreen seems to eat anything rubber & plastic. Some
worse than others. Does anyone have any experience of how the Oysterflex holds up? |

I wouldn't try it. Whenever sunscreen gets on anything in the car it's next to impossible to get off. Imagine it'll quickly stain the oysterflex white.

Ive gotten sunscreen on the Rubber B strap for my Sub with no adverse effects. Can't speak to OF, though.

I would just wash it every night with diluted Dawn soap to get the oils off. It won’t completely stop the damage to the rubber but it helps a lot.

I’m sure I’ve hit my OF with sunscreen at some point. Looks the same as day 1 though

I read that you're supposed to only use extra virgin olive oil on the OF if you are wearing SPF 30 or greater. Something about the inverse effects of Mercury being in retrograde. If the olives were smooshed by actual virgins, one Swiss Watch Elf will visit you in the night & leave a 2024 catalog.

It would kind of blow my mind if Rolex had a bracelet that is kinda targeted for warm weather wear but couldn't handle sunscreen. Like making the Submariner out of lithium...

I wore my OF Daytona exclusively to the pool and beach and the strap looked good as new after 2 years of constant sunscreen use.
I do have an OCD habit of washing my watches with soap every couple of wears though.

I'd be more concerned about DEET insect repellant. This chews through rubber and plastic in no time.

Is this a serious question? Worse case scenario, it gets a little greasy and you wash it with a little Dawn and warm water. Problem solved.

You can change it out in 5+ years once the new one wears out.
