Remove Your Sold Watches “Rant”

Quick rant, so please bear with me. Why do gray market dealers leave their sold watches on their websites ? I’ve been to several gray sites today and both have 1/2 - 3/4 of their watch inventory listed as sold . I find it a tad frustrating to have to scroll through the entire and view all the sold watches . The sold price is never reflected either.... it’s just depicts “sold” where the price was listed. I’ve noticed this for awhile now .

helps add a bit of credibility to the seller, and I personally enjoy being able to reference certain watches I'm researching to look at certain features to make sure watches i'm looking at are period correct, to inspect how much wear is on the case comparitively speaking etc

To give the illusion they are bigger than they really are.

Yup, seo and perhaps the illusion of integrity / dealer size.

SEO and they can always find another. It’s smart business on a private storefront. I’d only suggest watermarking the images.

A website launching as a new seller would benefit from posting many “sold” listings illustrating a “track record”.

Same reasons I’ve left the watches I’ve sold on my page. Shows track record, and when seen with the associated buyer comments and rating, enhances my credibility to a potential serious buyer.

As a buyer I prefer to see that history for a seller. But that’s me.

Wait till you discover sellers on here mark an item as sold only to repost it as a new thread shortly after.

It is a marketing gimmick to get you to call so they can sell you something else or make promises they can not keep and keep you from shopping elsewhere. You are nothing but a "lead" to them.

It is done here too by the Trusted Sellers.

But it is annoying to try to see about making a purchase, only to find after a page or so of B.S. that the watch was sold. Annoying.

Eventually out of frustration with the endless "sold" posts I ended up at Takuya to get what I wanted. No hassle, no B.S., no wasting my time, no unanswered email questions.

Rant over.

New guy here, but I agree. I was looking for date specific times pieces only to reach out and find out that they were long gone. Guess the endless search continues!

I agree. To me, it adds no validation to see a "sold" watermark on a listing. In reality, that means nothing. I can set up a page and list 50 watches as sold right now. I agree with the responses that blame laziness. I am seeing the same thing in the TRF sale section as well lately. I have reached out to sellers a couple times recently to make an offer only to get a response saying the watch was already sold. It would be awesome if there was a way to move sold listings to a separate section of TRF, so all listings in the For Sale section are active but there was still a way to view previous listings.

Why do some sellers on here create a separate thread with subject description of the item and marked sold. They also marked the original thread sold. To me, that is annoying AF. What is the point, unless I’m missing something?

This and to enhance the fomo I an attempt to make the black market price of hyped references more palatable. It works, I have to admit.

I thought this was actually a TRF rule at one point. I can't find it now.

That could be, although I have been seeing less of it lately.

I’ll add the the rant, watches that are sold but never marked or updated. That is a real pain.
