Been quiet on this thread :)

I drank too much last week, so I'm teetotalling it until Christmas Eve.

It was so stinking good! Paired it next to another 100pt chard, the 13 Marcassin, I thought it blew the Marcassin away, IMHO.

Last night only opened one bottle of 2013 Realm Tempest, which needed about another 4-5 years.

Here's a fantastic Grand Cru Bordeaux from a great vintage that drinks superbly at a great price point.

This Chateau is quite close to Cheval Blanc giving the location some pedigree...this wine has a great nose -- some hints of tobacco -- followed by a lovely jammy-ness. Very well balanced on the palate with a smooth finish.

Cheers all!!!

Looks like there was some good wine drinking during the holidays . These are a few from a party I attended with long time friends.

Enjoyed some wonderful wines with family over the holiday break and picked up a few new bottles too...AJ's in Tucson, AZ has a very nice wine selection!

Icon7 Bridlewood Red Blend 175 2013

OK... I found a sleeper red blend from the Central Coast that I think is good. 90 pts. Don't be fooled by the price! Give this one a try if you can find it! I found mine at Vons today.

http://www.wine.com/v6/Bridlewood-Re....aspx?state=CA

Winemaker's Notes

Rich and full-bodied, Bridlewood Blend 175 is their take on the best of the Central Coast. Each place has something to contribute to the harmony of the blend, so they seek the grapes out for that reason, regardless of whether they are in Santa Ynez, Monterey or anywhere in between. Deep, concentrated flavors of blackberry, ripe plum and a hint of strawberry intertwine with subtle spices of cinnamon and cardamom, culminating in a memorable finish of soft tannins and toasted oak. Vibrantly flavored, the Bridlewood Blend 175 is a versatile wine that will please almost anyone and any occasion.

Winemaker Matt Steel suggests enjoying with carnitas or lamb tacos with fresh cilantro and mildly spicy sauce or a smoked pork barbecue rib with a sweet glaze, served with Asian stir-fried greens.

Thanks guys. We bought new wine glasses this month and the bases were too wide to fit in my old rack. When I started looking around for new rack options, I saw this DIY pallet project and decided to give is a shot. The pallet I got was a POS and I ended up having to break it down completely and then reassemble with the parts that were salvageable. I was going to stain it, but after cleaning it and letting it dry, I liked the rustic look so I left it unfinished.
