I would get the watch in your hands to 'inspect' the serial number etc. then tell them to pound sand and you are not paying them a dime. It is their fault they did not do the due diligence and bought a stolen watch. Then, I would seek some retribution against them also. They should be paying you not the other way around.

My heart sank with your original thread, but I am relieved to hear you located it!

I will be happy for you when you get it out of the pawn shop and back on your wrist without incident! Best of luck to you, and keep us posted!

The Police found my White Gold Daytona!!!

This makes for a great weekend for all that read the original horror story. Glad you will be getting your baby back Tom.

Good to see that thieves are stupid the world over. If someone had "found" it they would have taken to an AD or the police.

It will be interesting to see if the pawn shop paid the person for it or ran the serial and found out it was stolen before they paid the person. And who called who etc.

Great ending and let us know how the pickup goes on the Incoming thread.

Nice foreshadow throughout the day :)

I was pretty gutted to read your original post but so many were offering condolences already I did not want to bring the thread to the top once again and add to the heartache.

So happy for you. It's not over till you have taken possession but things certainly sound good.

Congrats!

That is wonderful news. If feel you joy

Last year I lost an important piece of camera equipment, it was considered gone but I kept on praying to St. Anthony.
3 months passed, and by chance I was talking with an associate of a different company. He remembered that an assistant mentioned about a nylon pouch not fitting in their kit box. Long story short, I found it in someone else's office miles away 14 weeks later. That to me was a miracle by St. Anthony answer to my prayers

Fantatstic!

Great news! Forget offering compensation money - that's ridiculous. The pawn shop is in possession of stolen goods (YOURS).

This was my original post from the last thread. Seems like my last sentence really rang true:

Hey Gaijin, what an awful turn of events. I'm so sorry about your Daytona, but more glad that you didn't split your head open.

Hang in there, things have a way of working out in the end.

Freaking awesome news! We all prayed the watch would find its way back to you.

Don't pawn shops or resellers take a photocopy of the seller's ID in case of fake or stolen goods? I sold 2 watches and my gaijin card was photocopied each time before they handed me the cash. The shop owner must have a copy of the ID of the thief... sorry 'founder'

I'm in the camp of not giving them a dime. You've waited this long, if they choose to hold out, the watch is no good to them anyway so once they realize they'll eventually have to give it back and that you're not going to be held up due to their not doing proper due diligence I can't imagine they'll want to incur the expense of fighting you (costs them money as well should it go to litigation).

That's excellent news!!!

Karma's a bitch! Your watch took a little side trip to teach the Pawn Shop guy to do his due dilligence before coming back to you.
