If you're lusting after it with a passion, then yes. Otherwise no.

I don’t know if I’d call it lust but it’s a cool casual piece. Curious if it gets a lot of wrist time from people who own them.

Your only concern should be the amount of wrist time on your own wrist, and not other peoples.

Tons. I am not a big fan of watches drawing attention, but I get the most comments on it

Subjective to everyone's taste and collection. IMHO if you have to ask, it's probably a sign to not buy.

Have they got one in stock ready to go?

I like the colours of this, but can't fall in love with the conical bezel myself.

@jbnjbn: be aware you dont get the full 22% back.
The price shown is already including the VAT.
So you have to divide the price by 1,22 and the result x 0,22.

So you wil get back approx 18% (minus the charges from global blue)

The question you should be asking is;

Would I buy this watch if I was at home and the watch was in my local AD's window and it was at full price?

If you can answer yes to this question then you have the opportunity to buy this watch at a discounted price, spend your money and enjoy the watch.

However, if the answer to the question is no then you are buying simply because the watch is there and it is cheap, so I wouldn't buy it.

If you like it, buy it. If you want it, buy it. If you don't, don't. If you can't say for certain, don't. If you're considering it for no other reason than they have one in stock, don't.

Are you buying the watch or the discount? Are you highly confident that you will arrive home with the discount intact after you have cleared inbound Customs?

I think that you have probably already answered your question when you posted here. If you have to ask....

Not my favorite as the dial is one I have never warmed up too. It seems like it is about the deal and there are money amounts on some watches that could make me a buyer, just not this one. If you like it though, go for it.

Nope, it’s about it being different from the old fashioned conservative Rolex. Do you really know why the new dial design was made the way it is? There is a reason. Do some research. Hear is a hint..

Would not be "worth" it to me, I would not want to wear that watch.

Some opinions on the 116900 Air King

Opinion 1) I’ve seen the AK posted new for $6900 on reputable watch sites. MSRP is a bargain these days at $6200. Picked one up at my AD about a month ago. It’s a really cool piece in the metal and is great in a collection. It has a storied aviation history. As I’ve said before on this forum I think it’s a sleeper that will gain interest even more so when it’s discontinued which I bet will be next year
*****
Opinion 2) Because I was interested to add an Air King 116900 additionally to my Rolex collection I observed Chrono24 and other places for some time.
Generally up till short the AK / new was available for a little below MSRP, whereas this is below the MSRP of the Explorer I and the Milgauss.
However since some time I noticed that prices are rising, even up till MSRP plus 15%.
This is new for me; in the meantime I purchased a NOS / full in the seals one at 3% below MSRP.
*****
Opinion 3) Oh, what a beauty.....really distinctive from the general Sub-style stuff...this is how a tool watch has to be...
....most AD's can not supply the Air King from stock any more
....interest in the 116900 seems raising...
....prices are definitively over $ 6.200,-; time of under MSRP prices are over...
*****
Opinion 4) *****
The Air King 116900 is a beauty beeing the only one in the Rolex program with a dial with 1/2 digit Arabic figures (5-55); crown in yellow and Rolex logo in green, sec. pointer green, white gold 3,6 and 9 and the anti-magnetic properties of the Milgauss included for free ...
Furthermore, a great size of 40 mm, pleasantly "flat"; wears it as a personal made watch... and "brushed midlinks" ... really a barely discovered Rolex model... all elements of "the past" in a unique modern layout!
And then that unique "low" entry price ... (still) ...
These are co-conditions for becoming a future Classic ...
By the way ... that very original "technical" dial with those subtle Rolex colors green / yellow should be allowed to work in on you. ... it is very different from all other Rolex models ... something new / refreshing and yet with the familiar Rolex elements of " in the past ”… a good chance that this Air King suddenly“ catches on you and that you get to know what a unique opportunity is (still) offered with this model ...

You’ve convinced me - Thanks!

If it sings to you get it. If not don't. I buddy of mine got one, loved it from the start, and wears it as his daily.

If this is your one and only or finances are tight — since you had to ask for validation — probably not. Use those funds towards something you really want.

If you’re a watch enthusiast that buys - enjoys - flips for something new then yes — sounds like a good opportunity to buy at good price and create a unique Rolex experience. Because the price is pretty good, you should be whole/close to whole when you flip.
