116610LN or 126610LN
Is the 116610LN still regarded as a great Sub to own compared to the newer 126610LN Sub.
Would you trade the previous Sub date in for the latest Sub date….I have the 116610LN model, I haven’t seen the latest model in the flesh, and was considering trading for the latest model….good idea or better to stick with the 116610LN…opinions please folks |

I like the slightly larger size and the wider bracelet on the 126610 reference. Also, the 70 hour power reserve is an added bonus. I think most purists would mention the lug dimensions on the 126610 are more proportionate and in-line with the original submariner style than the 116610. Both fantastic watches though, so cannot go wrong keeping what you have or trading up.

There are pros and cons Andy.
The 126610LN has a nicer ratio of lug/lug width but has a wider bracelet. I have a 114060 and don’t mind the blocky case but I have tried on a 126610 and have just ordered one.

one major con is if you have any concerns around the 32xx issue. The newer ones haven't shown symptoms yet but it the issue show up about 1 year in...
Overall though the AR on the crystal and the slimmer lugs for me make the newer subs better. |

Im definitely in the minority here but i prefer the 116610 …….the new one looks too big and empty.
I dislike the bracelet ….too wide for me. The new sub definitely wears larger and i don’t understand why rolex just didnt keep 40mm and make the lugs slimmer. I guess they are pampering to the US market Fwiw ive got both references

You'll want to try the new one on or at least try on a demo model. That's the only way to tell.

Really for me the newer reference wears smaller. You know it’s a 0.3mm difference at the bezel right? Dial being basically the same size? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Prefer the 116610 because of the blocky case and smaller bracelet.

Bias as it’s the one I have but I love the maxi case and smaller bracelet. As mentioned mentioned above, although stated as being 1mm larger, the truth is the 126610(LN) is fractionally larger at 0.3mm. That’s got to be impossible to tell the difference with the naked eye I would assume. It’s the thinned out lugs and wider bracelet that are the major changes aesthetically. Don’t get me wrong it’s a lovely watch and if I didn’t have a Subby and got offered one, I would take it in a heartbeat, but as a comparison, I prefer the 116610(LN)

I'd prefer the 116. The 126 is a size bigger and clumsy on my wrist imo.
The 16610 is the best SS Sub imo.. |

I have both models, they are equally great timepieces. Every time you trade, the dealer make money on you, it's better to keep what you have and save money for different model so you have more variety.

Have had both, currently the 126. If I had the 116 right now, I wouldn’t trade to a 126, I don’t see or feel enough of a difference to spend the $$$. IMO, it isn’t significant enough of a change.

I just went through a similar thought process with the 124060. I also own the 116610LN.
In my direct experience, the updated model’s increased size is really a moot point besides the clasp. Everything else wears and feels slimmer. The svelte lugs, wider bracelet and taper etc. actually make this watch wear smaller than the 11 series given proportions. I still love my 116610LN, but the 12 series is an iterative improvement that wears better, too. |

1. The two references are very similar, except for movements IMHO.
2. I barely notice a difference in the lug profile when it on my wrist, but I do notice it more when not worn. YMMV 3. The clasp width is overblown here as far as I’m concerned again, YMMV Things I do notice are: 4. the longer hands. 5. The dial seems better spaced out to my eye. 6. Wears flatter on my wrist for whatever reason. In closing, you’ll have to try one on if you get a chance. It’s may or may not be worth it to you. |

I could have had the previous a half dozen times in 8 years but just could not do the lugs...
I will be honest and admit that I have been bitching about the 21mm lugs and the wider bracelet. But I've come to realized it just makes it VERY balanced on the wrist and just works. Need to stop reading negative whiners on forums! LOL I think the bezel is more proportionate as well to the rest of the new Submariner? There are so many great videos comparing on Youtube so I wont bother posting them but you should check them out if you can't hold both in person. |
