Comments: This very sharp condition one owner vintage Rolex Submariner is a Mk 1 ref 1680 serial #6.1 million circa mid 1979. Features thick and beefy lugs, acrylic top hat sea dweller crystal, bi-directional elapsed time bezel and very pleasing matte black dial with untouched cream colored tritium hour markers and original luminous hands. Please note that when acquired the lume had completely failed on the second hand. LAWW did an incredible job matching just the second hand lume to the rest of the watch.

The white dial 1680 directly followed the famous Red Sub, and comes in three different dial variations. The watch presented today is known as the Mk 1, showing a longer coronet at the top of the dial, the L in “ROLEX” being directly underneath that coronet, and lastly closed 6’s in the depth rating. On top of the details of the dial, is just how beautifully it has aged. The markers have turned just the right shade of cream. The 1680 movement is a caliber 1570 chronometer rated self winding movement with sweep seconds and date.

The bracelet In place is the original stainless steel ref 93150 heavy Oyster bracelet with flip lock clasp and 580 end pieces. The insert and pip are original to the watch and enhance the overall aesthetic package. The bracelet features nine links and one half link. Bracelet clasp code is an F. The outer clasp took an over polishing at some point as can be seen on the faint coronet. The bracelet is in other wise near mint condition with virtually no stretch. Watch comfortably fits my 7.5" wrist.

The inner box, outer box, polish cloth and oyster pamphlet are original Rolex items from my personal collection. These are period correct for a sport watch sold in 1980, but not original to this particular time piece. I have the original cyclops acrylic, but it was cracked and had a substantial polish divot. Will be happy to supply with watch.

LAWW recommended the sea dweller acrylic hand rounded to a beautiful dome. The watch is really breathtaking and all of its features show incredibly well with this NOS acrylic in place.
