Omega Speedmaster 3594.50 "Replica"
During my trip to Tokyo, Japan a fortnight back, I managed to find and purchase a short term grail - the 3594.50 Speedmaster nicknamed "Replica". After chatting with speedy friends and doing some read-up, it seems as though this particular model has issues with corroding hands. In person, I did not detect any, although some seemed to be visible from some angles. I put that down to potential scratches on the hesalite.
Last night, I took a loupe, and armed with light from an iPhone, sat down to take some pictures. Its quite obvious now that there is some corrosion on the hands, although nowhere near as bad as some of the examples I've seen online and shared on forums before. Verdict? Wear it until it needs a service, then decide if a set of replacement hands are necessary |
