Price Increases coming to Omega SS models

I heard from my local boutique that they will raise prices on May 1st on the stainless steel version of Speedmaster and Seamaster models.

The new SMP 300M will now cost $5,200.

We already had a price increase in Canada. Do you mean to say we may have another one ?

We had a 3% price increase recently in Canada on steel professional pieces. It was this year. Not sure exactly when.

Not sure if it’s worldwide or not. USA based boutique said it’s effective May 1.

I’ll buy it for $12.00 but not sure why that’s relevant to this thread...

I heard the same thing from an authorized dealer and a reseller as well.

I understand why they want to do this, but if the prices get too high, I'll just get a Rolex.

Don't fall for this yet, you have other offers coming. I'll go $20. You know if it doesn't increase, I may need to take a hit.

This is a terrible move by Omega.

The market rewards low-key retail prices and limited distribution with sales.

It punishes high retail pricing and overproduction with disdain and no sales.

Yep, I think it's a dumb dumb move on their end.
Now they have a chance to win over a lot of Rolex customers, but raising prices and waiting lists is not a good strategy, for the moment.

It more than likely won't..

The price increase creates a deeper chasm between retail and the market price...which makes the references look like bad values @ MSRP, which will lead to softer sales and subsequently A d higher discounts.

Then next is flat out "dumping" by AD's just to get rid of the dead stock.

Now the brand looks awful due to all this and becomes even less desirable among the general public..what a spiral...

Regular brand-new Speedmasters are available all day long on the grey market for 25% less than the Omega boutiques. I imagine it'll matter little if they raise the price by 5%. We'll just see the grey market go to 30% off

UK price has gone from £3600 to £3970 for the SMP 300m on a bracelet - that does seem a heck of a bump in one go - glad I got mine 6 months ago

Looks like Omega is doing well. With Rolex shifting to higher priced DJ/TT/PM from the lower priced SS sports, this leave a big hole for the other watch manufactures to feed on, obviously Omega is taking advantages of this. Personally I think Rolex has a hard time competing in this SS sport segment hence the strategic move.

I wonder if this is an effort to distance themselves from Tudor/tag as much as to bring their pricing closer to Rolex. For the seamaster, I think it’s justified as it was a lot of watch at 3.5k.

I've noticed the 5% increase on a Speedy Racing MC (SS bracelet) in Spain, going from 7,900 to 8,300 euros.

I agree that the SMP is not overpriced at £3970 - it was conspicuously good value at the £3300 I got it for with an Omega Nato strap thrown in

Seamaster has been a great watch for the money for many years now, even back then 10+ years ago when I bought an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean for around $2300 (tax included) and Submariner LV for around $5400 (tax included). I wore both of them and still own both. I could see that the my Seamaster Planet Ocean is as good as or even better than my Submariner in some areas such as the clasp. Not to mention that Omega is a very well known luxury name too.

I think this is one the reasons why Rolex de-emphasised their SS sport watches instead of increases the prices of the SS sport watches like many has suggested.
