Concered about a transaction

Hello,
I am new to TRF but have been collecting / selling / trading for a while.

I made a purchase of on Omega 2200.50 this past week and now I am told the watch has shipped, it should be there in 3-5 days (despite acknowledging I needed the watch Overnight before we agreed on the sale). And I have not been provided any tracking information, nor carrier information, and I have not gotten a response from the seller in almost 24 hours.

I have looked on my USPS, FedEx, and UPS accounts and do not have any incoming packages.

Should I give it some time? The seller has references on here and I am not sharing yet to hope this has a positive outcome. But this is the first time I have been in this pickle..

Thoughts and next steps?

Did you personally check the references? Were they from established active members with selling history? Classic delay tactics IMO. Was this bought via bank wire or PP? If bank wire try to put a hold on the transfer if you have a feeling you're being played.

To the OP: I really do hope you hear from the seller soon and get your Omega ASAP. It's always tough when a seller goes radio silent after receiving funds.

I know this doesn't help the OP, but it's a great reminder for us always to speak on the phone with a seller prior to a major purchase. I do it even when I buy on ebay. Not only does it establish a bit more of a traceable record (should things go bad), but also it helps to establish that these are transactions between two human beings. I need to get a warm and fuzzy feeling from someone in a big purchase, especially if I am wiring money.

I will make this a policy moving forward. I had a great conversation with a seller on another piece today. Certainly worth doing.

I assume its one of these, correct?

Seller has inconsistent posting history on TRF IMO
If this is the seller, I'm not sure how they could have references as this is the first piece offered for sale on the forum.

Or this on WUS

Here’s a good next step: identify the seller.

Seller was on last night at 9:30, he has been made aware of this thread. My guess is if it goes south, the acct was compromised. OP, I hope you used Paypal or a CC as James has said, if you wired money it may be gone. People really need to make absolutely sure who they are dealing with before forking over cash.

Better yet , I don’t care if the seller is the pope- NO wire transfers. AMx or Pp or both. If they aren’t willing, find another seller , pure and simple.Hope it turns out ok for you op.:-)

Exactly right Jason. I would never wire money to anyone that didn’t have a brick and mortar store. It’s just not going to happen.

Absolutely. Wiring $ to a DM off of WTB? I’m sorry but seriously?

Lesson learned, you know I have dealt with alot of great people in this community, avid collectors and not just in this hobby but others. And you get comfortable and then something happens. Its not an amount that will impact my life, thankfully, its more disheartening than anything else. But lesson learned.

No doubt about it. Super sad indeed. Without diminishing the pain, it’s important that buyers at least take the very bare minimum steps to protect themselves in carrying their 50% responsibility for the safety of the transaction.

I am a big boy so certainly not blaming anyone else. I have made dumb decisions.

I guess really one of my original thoughts behind opening this thread was to also see if something needs to be done to that account in question.
