I see a flat spot but I think these guys like Zillow for real estate have a tendency to "cheat" and change their historical data. If one were to take monthly screenshots for 24 months and then compare to their 2 year chart a bit of hand waiving has ensued.
There you go if you check it in pounds you will see but the flat spot has been since October 2018. It’s not going up at all.

Many before you have predicted price drops for the past few years, and they were wrong.

A pandemic didn’t even do it.

The only thing that could would be a drop in demand, and that has gone in the opposite direction. Just look at yourself desiring the watch. Multiply that times a billion worldwide, then do a price prediction.

Worldwide incomes are rising and Rolex is universally recognized as a symbol of achievement. People with money increased their wealth during the pandemic because there were less opportunities to spend it.

If you want it, buy it. Even if you paid Grey prices a few years ago you did not lose a dime if you want to sell it today.

or increase in supply and they turn up the burners and start making more which they have not decided to do at this point.

I don’t think you understand the metrics used in that graph.

If the price data was UK ONLY then I understand your point. But it’s worldwide, and does not solely look at UK prices.

Are you saying that brexit has affected the world market? Not a chance.

GBP is up 18% against US dollar in 2020. It probably flattened the curve. Sounds like a great time for you to leverage your £ and get that Daytona.

I’m gonna be a bit straightforward here and say this: so what if the price stagnates? If we bought it at retail it’s still a +/- 80% gain. Is there an investment out there that yield 80% return? Maybe Tesla stocks and a few others but the options are pretty little. Just buy the watch and enjoy it. If it goes up in value then great.

In any reference, there is a sizable price gap between worn and unworn. The flattening of the curve in one category doesn't mean that that reference has stagnated.

Rolex understands supply and demand, controls production, and is marketing genius. All things considered, I would expect prices to increase long before they decrease.

I went gray for my 116500ln white dial during the height of the pandemic last year. Very happy I did as that is one of my favorite watches in my collection. No regrets at all. If you like it, just buy it and enjoy it!

I’ve been following these price trends since the 80s. Other than occasional lulls in the action, Daytona’s are the watch that have defied gravity during all these years and have continued upwards always...

I think the takeaway is, Daytona isn’t going to get less expensive.

The secondary market price of this luxury item is going along with stock market.

Normally not a fan of necroposting, but when someone gets the sign wrong as spectacularly as the OP it's a worthwhile reminder that prediction is difficult, especially about the future.

I'm not going to argue with someone who shows a price chart of a watch & flaming about price drop.
99% of the time they don't have the watch / can't afford it.

I see the OP's charts & graphs and subsequent prediction for a price drop missed the mark a bit.

Wishful thinking I’m afraid for those who think Daytona’s are going to miraculously get cheaper, not going to happen.
Ceramic aside,look at 116520 prices also,appreciating continually.
People like the op should have bought earlier and stop belly aching about how expensiive they are now and how they are going to get cheaper.Missed the boat I’m afraid.

I don’t know the answer to this question, but couldn’t we just look back into history? Have Daytona prices *ever* dropped? EDIT: I posted hastily, just saw the graphs. Looks like the answer is somewhere between “not really” and “good luck, buddy” :)

Yea, I think he thought he could artificially devalue the Daytona then get one for cheap.....then hype it back up lol......he missed the Mark on that one for sure

Love this. Based on some of the responses I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of greys are in this thread

I hope you're very patient as the wait will be reeeeeally long. Even then, I don't think prices are heading south, ever.

Ok fast forward to now it’s been over a year and in 5 months will be two years and has hardly increased on prices maybe stayed static.

I think with brexit making sales abroad hard for greys and VAT/Tax increases and COVID I think it’s reached it’s max. It won’t go over £20k now it might even go down. I think this could be for a lot of watches on grey unless they get discontinued and the Daytona ceramic won’t it’s hardly been out.

It might now even drop due to the issues. I think we are now going to wait for it to drop now. What you all think. It could happen to a lot of watches I think now.

It won’t go to MSRP but they won’t go up now.
This didn’t age well did it? They’re now pushing £30k
