Bad advice...Why give away an opportunity to make money?

Exactly. Like that guy would say no thanks to someone walking up to him and saying “here is $9k cash for you. Oh no thanks someone else would like that $9k. I’ll pass”. Just dumb.

Should this be your decision?

You have this offer because a family member bought a Pearlmaster.

Why not offer this watch at list for the family member to keep or sell?

Without their purchase you would have nothing?

At least then you would not be ‘the flipper on TRF’.

Thanks for the advice.
Since all the profits go to the family member who bought the Pearlmaster I assume that covers that.

I say wear it. Why not. Wear it and enjoy it. You can always sell it later. Maybe you won't want to.

FWIW.. it seems that prices on these seem to be softening, selling sooner rather than later is probably wise.

When these came out there were sales $19-20K even... Right now, I have one available in the For Sale section, which happens to be the lowest price available on here at sub $18K and have gotten very few messages on it.

I would say buy it and sell it at MSRP to a member here...that would be the moral decision. Keep yourself in good standing at the AD and help out the needy lol

Selling to a member at MRSP would likely still be frowned upon by an AD.

I think this is the new way AD's offer "discounts" on PM models. They offer a flippable model at MSRP.

I would just hang on to it, I doubt the value is going to drop anytime soon on the cermit. You may even decide you want to keep it.

I buy my watches to keep. There are better avenues to make money than reselling luxury goods. That being said, I would not turn down a free opportunity to make some coin.

What is immoral about buying and reselling?

What a crazy situation you are in, because it actually sounds like you are being forced to buy another "hot model" in order to get the one you want. These are strange times, even in Thailand. As for the watch, definitely flip it if you don't think you will wear it. You can make a few bucks, and view that as savings on the one you wanted.

Either way, Enjoy!

Sarcasm is not always well transferred through posts...

The OP can do what ever he/wants. I don’t understand the justification for the post. You are offered a watch you don’t want that can be flipped for a profit...if you can drop $50k on a couple of watches are you going to be able to retire from the $8k profit you just made?

Many members of this forum are in the fortunate position to own a Rolex in the first place. Just because you don’t agree with the business practices of the industry, doesn’t mean you are “getting back” at their own game by flipping the watch. You justifying their business model.

After re-reading my post, it’s more passive aggressive than sarcastic, but the OP should make their decision based on their values and comfort level. They don’t need our input.
