I’m thinking about swapping my 126610LN for one of these, just concerned it might be too big / heavy for my 6.5” wrist. Anyone got both and can recommend?

Had a 116610 back in the day. Had the 116600 now for a long time (i started this thread some years ago). My wrist is 6.5” and i find the 116600 wears just fine.

Some forum members have mentioned that the newer sub 126610 wears better that its predecessor. I have 6.75 wrist and I have not had the chance to try out the new sub. One of the reasons I have not bought the 116600 yet.

I will recommend to somehow try out the 116600 before you trade in the 126610.

The 116610 that I own is not a good fit as it is top heavy and had to keep it balanced on my wrist. The shape of the wrist makes a big difference on how well the watch will fit one’s wrist.

I've got a 6.3" wrist, and the 116600 sits just perfectly.

This is a marvel, the SD4000 is probably the best Rolex ever made (very subjective, I recognize). A true classic, with its roots diving deeply in the 90's era (no cyclop, slim lugs, balanced profile).
And its value increase will exceed the increase in value of 16610LV.

Well in the crazy collecting game we all make mistakes and i have made plenty normally selling ...

Which i did back early 2020 when i sold my 116600 .....after collection grew a wee bit too much in hindsight i should have just sat tight...

Fast forward to 2021 and i could live without one no longer and set out to buy a minty or nos one....in 12 months the price has moved a fair bit and its easy to draw a line in the sand and refuse to pay market rate but if you really miss something be it a classic car or watch...bite the bullet and put the smile back on your face..

I picked up an unworn 2 weeks ago after missing a few and it just confirmed how daft i was to ever part with the last one..

Great watch that will be the last of the true Dwellers in many ways...this one is a keeper..

The SD 116600 Owners' Club

Congrats on finding an unworn. As you say, we all make mistakes, the key thing is to correct those mistakes when the opportunity arises. Mine is probably the only absolute keeper in my collection. It’s probably the cheapest, and yet my favourite.

Hard to believe it’s seven years since i started this thread!!

I have a 6.5" wrist and own both the 116600 and the new 126610LN. My wrist is flat and bony (just shy of 55mm wide), and I wear my watches above the wrist bone protrusion. I have not worn my 116600 in quite a while, it sits in its box stored away on a shelf. If I'm being honest with myself it just doesn't fit my wrist architecture well. The new sub is very comfortable and right now my daily.

The issue with the fit for me is that even though it is a 40MM watch it is fairly top-heavy and sits high. It doesn't sit high for everyone, particularly if you have a "fleshier" wrist, the case back would probably bed in. On my wrist, however, because it's not fleshy, really at all, it sits very high. And as a result, I have to wear the bracelet very tight to keep it from jostling around, which in turn isn't as comfortable long term (I wear it tight enough that I cannot pass my pinky under the clasp to the other side without really jamming it through). I'm making this out to be a big deal, which it really isn't but it's simply not as comfortable as the 126610 sub. Oddly, I passed on the 116610 sub because I thought that didn't wear as well as the dweller. Top down, the watch is great, lugs are well inside my wrist (even if they don't wrap as much as the sub or new 43). One of the reasons it wears high and heavy is because the case back is narrower than the sub's due to the "gas escape valve" writing. There's less flat surface. The dweller is great for all the reasons posited above, but it's just not my go to. I can pull off larger cased watches like the Pelagos because they have totally flat and wide case backs. The only reason to date I have not checked out the new 43 is...same case back.

I've gone back and forth on it because I know it was a short production run, etc. I'm fairly resolved that If my AD comes through this year as he thinks he will, I'll be picking up a 126610LV, at which point I'd probably sell the Dweller because I'd have multiple dive style watches.

I joined your club Monday. Drove 250 miles round trip to David SW. Smooth transaction. I traded my 126600, which I have no regrets. I like the size, the 3135 mvmt, no Cyclops. I believe the 116600 will appreciate more over time than the126600, due to the shorter production run. Time will tell.

Just put a deposit down for one of these bad boys and will collect it in a couple of weeks, been eyeing them up for a while now and was a toss up between this and the 50th anniversary early edition but it had to be one of these without the cyclops

I made a big mistake 1 1/2 years when I sold my first SD4K, which I bought new from an AD once it was released.

Well, after a long wait for the right opportunity, and despite prices rising as I waited, I found this full set one in NOS condition, with most stickers intact, and an open name on the card. A big thanks to @trackingtime for a smooth transaction.

This 116600 is now back in the stable, and I’m absolutely thrilled. It’s the best modern Rolex diver, IMHO. Something just a little extra special that you don’t see or feel until it’s on the wrist.
