Datejust turn-o-graph owners chime in
Hello all,
Contemplating a future purchase, specifically looking at the DJ TOG 116264 I’ve currently got a 116234 DJ, Zblue milgauss, and a 216570 polar explorer. Basically I am just looking for some pictures and feedback on the TOG. I have not held one but I adore my 116234 DJ for its size and comfort. I like rotating bezels for timing scenarios, But I understand the bezel on the TOG is only a friction fit I.E. no detent system like a Submariner/GMT/YM. Anyone who has had one, what were your thoughts on it? Thanks! |

It is a bit quirky, but I like it for that.
The bezel rotation does not have indents. It feels the same as the Navitimer sliding ruler bezel :) The red accents are a nice touch and I like how the indices are applied sticks with no lume in them (but there are lume dots above/below). Couple of negatives: The numbers and triangle are painted in the relief areas of the bezel. The paint will rub away with use. The dial diameter is smaller than a regular Datejust because the bezel is wider to accommodate the numbers and triangle. |

I was debating one local to me and pulled the trigger this weekend - awaiting service (2006 circa, so worked it into the deal) so no pics, but I find it wears more like a 38 than the regular DJ, IMO. The bezel and color combo are perfectly striking in a quiet sort of way, at least to me.
Did get to wear it around the store while we worked out the deal, and it suits my 7.5" wrist very comfortably. Mine is on original Jubilee and the white dial. A nice combo of unusual, sporty, and semi-dress in one neat package that's slightly more 'distinct' than the normal OP or DJ - but, to each their own! :) |

I’ve always questioned why this had not been reissued in DJ41 format. I’d buy it

I love mine. It’s got a smaller diameter than my other Rolex watches so it’s different.
As noted above, the bezel indices paint rubs off but that’s the only downside that I have experienced. |

Agreed! It's a great watch in TT. I originally wanted the matte-black dial SS watch, but never remembered seeing any in the stores. At one point, this one showed up at my AD, so I went for it (in 2011). 10 years later, I'm still enjoying it. TOGs do come up for sale every so often on the TRF 'Rolex For Sale' forum. Mine says hello..
