What have I got?

I own a 1982 Datejust with model number 16000 between the 12 o'clock lugs. My question is spec related. The actual watch has a 18K fluted bezel and crown and a SS/18K Jubilee bracelet, plus a tapestry dial. Could some one have purchased this from an AD and had changes made when new or is it more likely these changes have been made later. Yes I'm a rookie. The watch was a gift and I love it. It been verified the watch is legit, just doesn't seem to match the model number. Thanks

.

A 16000 is a 16000 and can't come as the TT yellow gold 16013 you're describing.

No Rolex AD would have done this transformation, new or not.

Most probably one of the previous owners sourced bezel, crown and Jubilé and installed them, or asked an independant watchmaker to do the job.

Not hard to put it back to original spec if the dial is a 16000 dial. Otherwise you'll be looking for one of those too

Did the authenticator make mention of the discrepancy?

ADs I knew back in the late 70s and early 80s did TT conversations all the time.

In 1985 I bought a 1600 Datejust. After two weeks I decided that I wanted a two tone watch. The dealer was willing to mod the watch I had, but he told me it would be less expensive just to trade it in on a new two tone. There are a lot of modified datejust around that ADs did prior to 2000.
