Bundle Deal

Hi guys,

My AD is offering me a Black Dial Daytona, but I have to purchase a yellow gold GMT Master II 116718LN at MSRP $33,000 as well. Do you think this is a good bundle deal?

I would never let an AD tell me I have to spend 33k in order to spend another 12k on another watch.

These tactics are laughable.

Ditto. What a WTF by that AD. Many ADs are having like stereotypical used car dealers.

If you have the cash and you want the GMT then it's a great deal :)

Only if you really wanted that GMT. Otherwise you are getting hosed. IMO.
I think for PM generally speaking secondary mkt is better. Unless getting one hell of a discount.

Get the offer in writing
Then send the offer to both Rolex USA and Geneva

I’m sure they will look after you and have a word or two with the AD

I would not bend to blackmail

woah there. this is the definition of blackmail : "the action, treated as a criminal offense, of demanding payment or another benefit from someone in return for not revealing compromising or damaging information about them."

what damaging or compromising information is the AD revealing here? let's not get carried away please.

I am in this camp .

I am still waiting for any AD to suggest bundling or Package deals ...I will make life miserable for them .

Its blackmail in its purest form .

The "gracious AD" is just getting rid of the YG GMT that most likely has been in the shoppie for years ....

Its not really blackmailing since it is not a matter of life or death whether you purchase a luxury item.

Like everyone else has said, only if you wanted that specific GMT. Me personally, I'd try to negotiate for a different PM like WG GMT, WG42YM, or maybe full PM Daytona at that price point....

FWIW, I think lots of AD's would be willing to offer the same bundle but allowing more flexibility on the PM chosen. So it's not that rare of a deal being offered.

I don't think it's too bad a deal, any chance you can negotiate a little discount on the PM piece? But, if you really like the YG GMT, I say why not? After all, that reference is discontinued and slowly going up in price almost to the point of matching old MSRP

They won’t discount the GMT at all which is why I’m even hesitating on this. I’ve been trying to get a black dial for quite awhile now.

I would pass, unless there are other Rolexes you want that keeping this AD sweet will help you get later.

I would do this deal.

All gold GMT II looks great imo, and market value of those are not that far off of the sticker price tbh.

If you have no interest in the 116718LN and wanted to sell it now, you'd lose about $10k on it. So I'd say it's a bad deal.

One ad asked me to bundle a black submariner with a $14k lady dj. They are getting more ridiculous these days.

That is beyond ridiculous. 14k for a lady DJ just to get a Sub? Forget it.

Do you want the GMT? Is that a watch you’ve had on your radar and inquired about buying? If so then do it - if not then pass.
