Please post pics of your sub on a leather or gator strap

Hello all

Please post pics of your sub on a leather or gator strap with details on the craftsman.

My GFs daily watch is a 14060 on nato, yes she's a keeper! Recently she expressed interest in trying out a leather or gator strap. I've had good a good experience with Micah and I know there is a wealth of ideas in the Panerai sub forum but most of the makers listed there only show Pam photos on their websites.

Your ideas are much appreciated

Saas

Hadley Roma, "oil tan leather brown" or something like that. $20

I have it in black also, I like them both but prefer brown.

Check out stone creek straps in Mesa AZ. Jeanna (owner) hand makes anything you want. As good as it gets!

That's sensational Jed - both the watch and the strap!!

Do you have a particular strap in your stable you would recommend for the 1016?

plenty of subs worn on leather, they were actually often original option in south america on leathers in some places...at end of day over time leathers going to knacker...but its $100 ...be bored of the colour and moved onto another long before that happens.

yes, thats an original NOS ( well almost :) ) long5 red triangle from 59....

and NO...its not available :)

Learnt a couple of things today. Never new a sub came on leather.

On the insert, being an underline, I figure it is near the end for a 6538. However I guess I stand corrected on my readings on the inserts. Thought the 6538 came with the more rounded fonts and the early 5512 came with red more square fonts. Anything you share there?

Do top shelf examples like you keep teasing us with come available? I get the idea you and mister Wood are the BoE of Rolex top shelf watches.

the last 6538 are manufactured mid 59 and thats the 59 manufactured bezel that most 59's start life with. you see very few late 1959 6538 full stop so most you will have seen are 57/8 with red triangles and the rounder font seen on 57/8 and most 5510.

nearly all the underline 6538 , in fact all come to think of it, are 1959 end of run watches ...did they leave this way in 59?, were they old stock not lumed and sold till later ...were they stock that was out and recalled ...basically no one knows., the dials are tritium consistent with the 59-62 period not radium as per the earlier period.

definitive answers no, sorry , its Rolex :) ... they are just rare, sought after and great looking and the tritium mix seems to retard gloss degradation that you see in many of the earlier radium watches.

yes watches like this at the top end come available for sale, but rarely publicly , most dealers have a bank of existing clients who have spent a long time and a lot of money with them and they get first refusal or are on a waiting list for models, they buy usually of one lousy wrist shot and the relationship they have built to know its all good, sometimes i try very hard to have duplicates so i can list on the site but right now there is a chronic shortage of quality pieces so i know exactly who a piece is going to as I'm buying it if I'm not buying it for myself.

Hey it took a little while to find on ebay a real one they usually run around a 100 for a real one. Watch out for the fakes.
