TRF Divers

Calling all TRF divers out there, stand and be counted!

There have been threads here and there accounting experiences Rolex related or otherwise, but it would be good to have a specific place for this interesting sub-community (pun intended ) to hang out and share stories.

I'll kick things off:

- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
- Rolex Submariner Date as primary timing device
- Apollo Bio Control BC
- Apollo Bio Fins
- Cressi-Sub Ellipse Reg

Do almost all of my diving exclusively in Malaysian Borneo, and looking to travel further afield! The Sub has been with me on almost all my dives, except a few where the Seiko Orange Monster took it's place.

Went through NASDS and PADI. Learned in Southern California but later dived in Guam and Thailand. After those dive locations I never went again.

Any reason for not diving after those trips? For me, it's great relaxation and escape from the hassles of a land bound existence...

...and a chance to use my Rolex for what it was intended!

Padi certified, certs include open water diver, advanced open water, rescue diver, and master diver.

Rolex Sub LV is my only watch that's been in the water with me, but looking forward to taking my DSSD in the depths in the near future.

Used U.S. divers regulator as my main unit and a Sherwood as a spare.

Also use MSA Firehawk at work, have to be recertified yearly.

Not nearly as flash as you guys... but I recently did my first open water dive with my z serial sub.... a massive 16m!!! Subby handled it well..... and I loved it too..... I plan to dive the Great Barrier Reef next year.... hey.... we all have to start somewhere right?!?!? :-) :-)

I've been diving all over the US coasts, the Caribbean, Mexico, and other remote parts of the world.

I generally won't dive with anything more expensive than a Citizen, as I've destroyed at least a dozen watches in the last 15 years, both cheapo's and Seiko's rated to 300m. I'll occassionally hobbylob while wearing a Rolex or Breitling, and snorkle while wearing one, but generally won't dive with a multi-thousand dollar watch unless I forget to take it off before leaving home.

In the future, I'll get a used 14060M to use as 'dive buddy'.

Are you a photographer or dive guide?... but that would make you a Divemaster no?

Do you dive with the Pepsi? The bezel would work as a timer too.

Does the US Navy still 'issue' Zeagle BC's? I'm kinda interested in the 'official' equipment issue and am looking at picking up a Buddy Commando BC in the near future.

I'm just a snorkeler. I really like snorkeling the most over the past few years.

I got OW NASDS in about 1970.

Associate of Science Degree in Marine Diving Technology (Commercial Diving), Santa Barbara City College class number 6. Certified Underwater Explosives Technician.

Oceaneering International - Diver Tender and Diver, Underwater Demolition, Saturation System Construction and then Operator and Diver - California, Chile - Oil Work.
Frolich Marine Divers - Diver - Gulf of Mexico - Oil Work.
Taylor Divinig and Salvage Diver - Gulf of Mexico - Oil Work.
Walker Diving and Salvage - Diver - Baltimore Harbor - Underwater Construction.
Smit-Tak - Diver - Baltimore Harbor and East Coast - Underwater Construction.

I quit that business and went back to college for an Engineering Degree and have since retired.

So, now I Sport Dive a couple of times a year and am really liking the freedom and exercise of free diving and snorkeling.

Depends on the use...the ANU (Approved for Navy Use) list gives the 'official' equipment that can be used by normal units for normal operations. The spec war community does just about whatever they want, but the ANU guides the rest of the units.

There's a number of different Zeagle, USD, and Scubapro BC's on the list. Take a look...it's interesting the stuff that's approved and also stuff that's not on the list as approved.

Never dived with a Rolex, but just got a Sub ND that I plan to put to the test in the Florida Keys next spring. I think I'll still be using my dive computer though!

Cetified in 1968 open water, in 73 with NAUI advanced diver open water. I dive twin 50 cu ft solid manifold and a Aqualung Royal Aquamaster double hose (yes fully overhauled by yours truly) with a pheonix first stage. DElivers tremendous air. Most of my diving is treasure hunting. I research, and go look. I use a baracuda metal detector, lost count several years ago as to time under last count in 1881 was over 10k hours. dont count anymore. Its not so much finding the treasure... thats a payoff, its the search leading up to the find. treasure is pleasure. My main Timepeice for the last 30 years has been a Rolex SD, previous to that a Tudor Sub, (two of them one from 1968 the other 1972) before that a Waltham chrono, and before that a bulova and a timex which when it filled half way with water let me know I was a 30 feet.lol.

Diving is fun, its .. well its just the best damn sport i know of. no whiners cause they cant talk, no i canters because if they talk they drown...

I'm SSI certified. I guess I'm a noob because I've only dived a few times. I enjoy it but am not crazy about it.

Another Rolex diver!

Twin hoses huh? that's some serious retro chic. I saw a guy over the weekend using twin hoses, kept the bubbles out of his face and camera. He came up with some awesome nudibranch shots.

I have a day off tomorrow, so will be exploring a new-ish site, about 25m down, with a serious sloping reef up to 12m. Lots of pelagics in the area, and I'm aching to try out some new fins.
