Thoughts - JLC Master Compressor Memovox Alarm

I've always loved JLCs, especially the Master Compressors. I currently just have my Sub, so there is always room for another.

Here are a couple of links from eBay (not saying I'm buying these, just using for reference). Compared to other high end watches, these seem like a great value.

Any owners of this watch and/or thoughts?

I always loved the MC line. Was disappointed when they moved away from it. Their new lines don’t have the style the MC’s did. They jumped onto the tired and now trite vintage re-creation wagon that everyone else did (Breitling, Hamilton, Longines, etc.) instead of continuing to move watches into the future like they were doing with that great looking line and other ones like the amazing Extreme Lab’s.

I prob buy/flip 2 to 3 JLC’s per year and I love them though. The only one I’ve still got is a 2014 Amvox 2, the black PVD’d titanium LE one. It’s one of the best JLC’s I’ve ever owned. Tons of style. But I may let it go this year for this new Reverso my AD has.

Anyway, I hope JLC goes back in that artsy design leading direction they were going towards with the MC’s.

I liked the JLC Master Compressors quite a lot some 10-15 years ago but could never get myself to pull the trigger at the time. Today I am happy I didn't as the design didn't age particularly well IMHO (and/or my taste has changed, who knows...).

Nope. Don’t do it.
I took a gamble on one given fair amount of positive comments out there.
Quality of build for me is not that great and service/support from AD’s was a disaster. So sold it at a fair loss after a few months and will not go near JLC again.
Lesson learned.

That’s 100% an isolated incident. I can’t defend resale because nothing is Rolex. But I’ve owned many JLC’s and AD support and quality is top notch from my experiences.

I like them but not quite enough to own. Though it is tempting given the low prices they can be found at these days

Yeah, it's the current market price that's causing me to seriously look.

I fell in love with this watch on a bracelet when I saw one in person recently. I got it for a steal so I jumped on it... but when I got it home I realized why. It needed service and the dial was scratched. I took it to the nyc boutique and its out being fixed. I think it will cost me close to 2k. But given how low I got it for, it still works out. Ill let u know how the service process ends up going!

It is a great watch. Would love to own one in RG.

As for the service--if you buy a used watch that has not been recently serviced (i.e., you don't have a warranty), then you have to include the price of the service into the purchase. Sorry.

I've been looking at anything JLC alarm including this for some time now. I feel the alarm function will be very useful to me (I'm bad at managing my time). I find the deep sea alarm more beautiful though.

Yeah, I bought with my eyes and not my brain. The watch looked really great and felt really great but obviously I should have known it would have issues because of how cheap it was. Well full and complete service estimate came in at 2100$ But that includes a new dial, hands, and bracelet link. They are saying the watch was dropped. I didnt see any physical indication of this, but that would explain the damage on the dial which was clearly caused by the hands etc. oops. Gorgeous watch though. Hoping JLC will basically restore it to brand new
