Main things you look at when buying expensive vintage Rolex
Hello guys,
I always try to help people to add my to cents when someone asks to verify a watch. Of course I am far from the experienced expert like some of you, however I do tend to look at: 1. The case shape and crown guards 2. Insert is my favourite to look at 3. Whether hands, dial and crystal match in colour HOWEVER, these are not the most important things to look at. It's the dial that everyone cares the most. I heard many times people saying it's relumed, repainted, too glossy, odd shaped coronet etc. etc. My question is, what is your technique when you look at the dial? What do you expect to see? Are there simple ways to tell repainted dial from genuine? How to spot relumed dial and what's the difference between not relumed? Pictures would help! I think it would massively help to hear from the experts and share their opinions for those who are still learning in this hobby, including me :) Let's make it as informative as we can Thanks in advance! |
