Thanks everyone for your comments.

I have some bad news... the 5712 was given to someone else.

This was caused by procrastination on my part (as per my post plus I got crazy busy at work and didn’t manage to call before closing time) and miscommunication (I thought my AD was going to call me before giving the allocation away instead of just giving me 24 hours, perhaps the language barrier played a part).

I’m pretty upset as I tried it on and it really made me change my mind about which of the two references I prefer. I can’t say which is better - they’re both amazing and I’d be lucky to have either!

I’m going to go see the AD in person as soon as I can and see what can be done. Hopefully I can get another allocation soon. Who knows, this might be a blessing in disguise and may improve my chances for a 5711 allocation. Or maybe the other way around dunno.

So hopefully prospective buyers on the forum can learn from my stupid mistakes:

- Know what you want! Tough without trying on first and seeing your options first hand.
- Have the money ready, wife on board and have a plan for getting to the AD as soon as possible.
- Clearly understand how much time you have to make the decision and clearly communicate with the AD if you really need to think about it

Thanks again for your advice which I failed to take!

Sorry to hear that but that is why there should have been no hesitation. 5711/5712 are usually gone on the first day of arrival.

TBH, if you loved the 5712, you would have it on your wrist right now, so it's probably a good thing it's gone to someone who will love it more. It's my personal favourite PP watch, but it's not for everyone.

So sorry to hear about what happened!

Do go back to your AD, don't be too angry - tell them that you really like the 5712 and would love to be allocated the next one that arrives. And do make hints about the 5711 too.

Tell us how it goes!

Sorry to hear. I was just checking back to see what you decided. Hopefully they can get you another 5712 or the 5711 you desire.

Got the call: 5712/1A

good luck choosing! and do let us know once decided!

I agree! 5726 > 5712 any day IMO. But if your heart is with the 5711 then do not go for the 5712! Unless of course you flip it - won’t lose money either!

Sorry that you missed the opportunity on the 5712, hopefully you will get another chance soon or even get the 5711 which you wanted more

I need to know how you are getting it. I cant even put myself on the list and I got a 5980/1R on the wrist. Looking at what's recommended here it'd seem I'm never getting on it as I'm not worthy enough

OP, I have urged you to get that 5712 on 11 Dec 2018. Now it's gone and the next one will take some time to arrive again (only maybe, if your AD will allocate another 5712 to you).

I'm honestly sorry that this has happened to you.

Need to be local with a local business card. They won't take names from foreigners.

Hi all. Quick update!

Went into the AD on Saturday afternoon and had a heart to heart. Cue tears in the eyes and violin music... said there was some miscommunication, not the end of the world and if either a 5711 or 5712 come along I’d be happy to take either.

Was told that when they get stock of either the 5711 or 5712 they would let me know which I appreciated.

Got a call on Sunday noon and to my amazement they received a second 5712 and if I wanted it I could have it. Erm... yes yes yes!

Rushed in that evening and now I’m a proud owner of a nautilus! Was incredibly appreciative of the way the AD helped me.

What an amazing timepiece and absolutely no regrets! Still on the list for a 5711 so let’s see when the time comes.

Thanks again for all your advice!

Wow, this is an impressive series of events with a happy congratulatory ending. OP, glad you secured the second 5712 allocation to you. I’m impressed with the turn around time on the second 5712 from the AD. Big congrats and hope you love the 5712.

I would take both for sure But you cant go wrong with any of the nautilus models in the current line up imo. Congrats on the 5712, what a stunner.
