two years ago it would have gone like this... "whats up with all those AD's charging retail, there are tons of BNIB watches on the internet for a discount, what idiot buys from an AD?". Now retail is the new discount.

You are going to have to be patient if you want a watch from an AD, but you can get one. It's also cyclical....probably.

We see grey-market sellers posting pics with dozens of rare watches, but even a hundred sellers like that still aren't a drop in the bucket compared with global demand.
There are hundreds of sellers in the global market. And each seller can have multiples of that watch. Check any one of the popular greys and see how many Daytonas, BLROs and LVCs they have. Look at grey dealer's window display in Hong Kong and then add up all the fly by night flippers poaching watches just to resell.

The Grey dealers are now like ADs with product in their stores and the ADs are now like grey dealers, who offer the (msrp discount) price. The market has turned upside down today.

The watches are available, they are all just out of the ADs and into the secondary marker immediately. Because we are on this forum people think there are black friday crowds outside of ADs worldwide trying to buy $10k watches. We are still the minority and most of mechanical watch industry sales are from repeat buyers as you can see on this forum, the vast majority own multiples.

We think that if these watches were available that Rolex watches would flood the market and their watch would dive in value. Every Submariner, Exp, Daytona and GMT from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s sells for more than it retailed. With the brand power Rolex has, this exists today with current in store watches and will continue even if people are able to walk into ADs and simply buy one, like it was in the previous decades.
