Bezel Protection

Hey all,

Do you guys keep or get to keep the plastic cover that protects the bezel when you get the watch brand new?

I have never seen one in person myself.

Would it be good to have?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I bought my new Sub No Date last week from a local AD. The owner refused to give the bezel protector and ripe it off in front of me. According to him, it is Rolex policy not to give to buyer. This is to discourage them to flip and earn.

I got mine for both purchases. Always wear the watch with it intact if I know I am going to be navigating crowds of people (kidding)

The SA actually told me “be sure to keep everything...tags, box, booklets, bezel protector because if you ever decide to sell those add value!”

You will probably end up scratching the sides of the bezel with the bezel protector if you keep putting it on and off as it sits on the bezel really tight.

I ve 2012 sub like new condition mostly kept in velvet pouch most of the time, I still have the protector but never thought about re installing it on the bezel.

You pay money to the watch and you have the right to have the full set when you pay for the full set.

Re-selling or keeping your Rolex is totally your personal decision and no one else should manipulate you. You can re-sell it with a profit or loss.

Reselling something is a decision and you can either profit or loose money. There is no guarantee to profit at anything.

It is a small thing to worry but it is a disrespect to the customer.

No they are useless. Just wear your watch and enjoy your life. You definitely don't need to worry about protecting the bezel of your watch with an ugly piece of plastic.

Thanks guys! Good to know.

I probably won't dwell on it since I keep mine pretty intact in a pouch when not wearing it.

Having said that, we as customers should really get the full set of what comes with the watch. What we are going to do with it is totally our business.

Have to agree like most of the rest of the plastic bits fit only for the waste bin.

Solution for ADs: They can keep the box, tags, booklets, certificates as they are useless things, and will just give you the watch in a plastic bag with the extra links. So it will make it harder to sell. Some people might still believe that all of those so called unnecessary crap will be sent back to Geneva. This is what is going likely to happen.

That's a lie. Homemade lie.

Ask him to pull up the mandatory selling guidelines by Rolex in November 2019; the one ADs got worldwide. Nothing is stated regarding the bezel protector or white tag. Just the coffin cannot be included in the sale.

Tell your AD a watch can be flipped for the same price with or without a bezel protector and white tag.

Was that at La Difference?

Don’t be so sure. I was not given the bezel protector on my last 2 purchases. Both times I asked and both times I was told by my AD that they are not allowed to hand them over. Same goes with removing all stickers.

Based on my experience, the OPs AD has followed head office instructions.

No Rolex rules dictate to keep the white tags (which shops use for internal use for stockcheck, however, there are ways to manage this logistic if you're smart enough) or a bezel protector.

Whoever UK takes instructions from (I believe Geneva) they were RECOMMENDED to keep the warranty card for 3,6,12 months. Wasn't mandatory. Big difference. From all the dealers I've dealt with there isn't a single one that were recommended to withhold the bezel protector. The UK method of withholding warranty card has pretty much been reversed now (and it never stopped the greys in trading their watches between each other).

As stated before...With or without bezel protector doesnt affect the price when resold on the grey market.

The stickers were a mandatory guideline by Rolex in November 2019 (search in here for threads. Someone posted a cut out of the guidelines and everyone screamed fake - It did look fake, but it was in reality printed on "Rolex paper" [high quality stuff with indented logo etc]) just like the coffin wasn't allowed to be given out. No mentioning of bezel protector or white tag.

Yes with each of the three Rolex’s I have purchased there was a bezel protector. I don’t think they serve any purpose really, but yes I keep them. There all part of the full set as far as I am concerned

Got to keep the coffin. Not the bezel protector and stickers removed. They even had to size it. I didn't mind. Their store. Their rules.

I always got everything. 5 new Rolex in the last year 1/2. All boxes, tags, bezel protecter and coffin. My AD assured me he never got a word to hold back anything. If your not offered and don't ask they throw the extra bits away.

My last two purchases I was always given coffin and bezel protector. The SA said the coffin is good when traveling.

Bezel Protection

When I recently bought a Rolex, I took home everything important;

The outer box
The inner box
The plastic box
The white tag
The green tag
The bezel protector
The outer cardboard sleeve
The warranty card
The manual

Now I get to admire all of it all day long

I can’t even remember what watch it came with

It isn't worth anything.. other than 'full set' and then, it isn't really included in the term 'full set'.

I guess to someone it may mean the difference between choosing to purchase your watch over another who is selling without..

Worth having if you have it.. but I wouldn't lose any sleep if you didn't :)

Anyone paying for bits of useless plastic must be sixpence short of a shilling, most are just put in the waste bin at point of sale at AD.

If Rolex meant for buyers to keep and use the bezel protectors, they would have made them nicer, easier to put on and they wouldn't crack so easily.

Pure packing materials from the factory which are meant to be discarded prior to sale to consumers.
