patina or no patina
So the quandary is this: You have two decent examples of a watch you really like and you need to decide between one of them which to keep. One has great patina on the dial and hands but a so so case, the other has so so patina with a great case.
1. What do you select?! and 2. What is your favorite look, darker patina or lighter patina?

Id wait for third that has both great case and great patina :)
I prefer a medium patina, not too dark and not too light....but just right. |

I'd prefer the so-so patina and great case. Patina can change/improve over time, but the case won't fix itself.

hah! Good point. This is the ultimate plan, however, in the meantime I'm trying to decide which I'd be happiest to have...

what do you mean by "so-so patina"? The color is not aged or the finish of the lume is in bad shape?

Great question and quite a predicament you are in.
Dial and hands condition is very important and I think is more so than case. Case can be refinished and cleaned up, for a price of course. With respect to patina, it depends on the watch and age. I've seen gorgeous examples of the same year and watch yet one had very dark and textured patina and the other was a beautiful cream. Crazy difference and both were fantastic in their own way. Tough choice. |

Tough decision Greg. I honestly think you will be happy with either one of those beautys. You could always sell both and wait til you find one with great patina and a thick case. As for Patina i prefer Creamy Patina. I like the darker patina but not if it looks un natural. Anything but snow white. |

there is more to consider...the one on left has the wrong insert, but it has a bracelet which if original is worth a few extra $$

Bracelet is mine from so its more about the watch head comparison because its an easy switch. The insert on the darker one is an older '80s service insert. I would probably source a period correct one eventually if I end up keeping that one.

condition is key, so the better case wins.
You could swap the dials/hands, but I'd keep them as 'original' as possible. |

Haha. Thanks Ben. Don't think I haven't thought that same thing! ;) The problem is that the lighter one is my friend's and the darker is mine. He likes my dial and I like his case so he offered to swap. If only they were both mine indeed I would do a case swap! Inviato dal mio iPhone utilizzando Tapatalk
