My CHNR spent over a hour in the hot tub on my last trip.
Im happy for you - Ive also worn gold in hot tubs/pools etc before and nothing happened but this time it did.

Ive shown more images in previous pages - fed up of people saying this is fake now - tbh I wish it was.

Absence of evidence (in your particular case) is not the same as evidence of absence. We have it on good authority that this is possible. The fact it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it isn't.

That was clear - was meant as a joke - just on the colour side

very true. when baz / searchart mentioned "It's not like this isn't possible." , i gave the OP benefit of the doubt. additionally, its not like he's telling another "AD demanded my flipped watch" story.

Not questioning your statement; just trying to learn.
If only a few expert professionals with extensive experience would post their views on this situation, then maybe we could all learn.

Well, on the other hand, maybe not...

They are hosted on my Google drive, the images taken on my phone are too high quality to upload to the forum.

Ive also included images up against another YG DJ to show the colour difference.
Sorry to see this happen, hope they can polish it out or something.

I have never worried about entering any pool or hot tubs with my two tone sub, and I have gone into many hotel Jacuzzi etc., wish you could find out what caused the problem so we can look out for it.

Please update as you learn more about the status of your watch.

Tbh I hope they dont polish it out as theyll ruin the fluted bezel - hopefully the reaction can be reversed - ive been told by other who have had a similar problem that it can be polished out for sure but it will make the gold weaker. (from the reaction not from the polishing)

For my own peace of mind, I’d take another piece of gold jewelry into that same hot tub for the same amount of time and see what results I get.

Some valid points there. Man, I am sorry for you. That is one expensive hot tub experience.

I can tell you as a result of this thread, I will be more careful wearing my watch to a hot tub in future.

I agree, something like a gold day date maybe? Some forum members may wish to send their gold watches to the OP, to see what results he gets.

It is quite probable that the bracelet isn’t oem. OP can you confirm if the watch was bought new? I’ve seen cheap gold plate turn this color after contact with chemicals.

There's hundreds of claims on these very forums from members that Rolex gold doesn't tarnish, everose won't colour bleed, Rolex white gold won't turn dull. Yet it is all incorrect.

18k gold is 18k gold, those 25% of other materials can do funky stuff when they get in contact with something that triggers oxide formation.

So Bas, if this watch ended up on your work bench how would you get the yellow gold color back? Sand and Polish or some other cleaning agent to remove the oxidation?

Ultimately tarnished gold through chemical exposure is not uncommon and is fixable depending on the degree of tarnish. It can be removed with a cleaning solution as Bas has suggested if the tarnish is thin. It may need to be polished out if it is thicker. And worst case scenario if it is pitted it requires replacement.

The question of whether or not it should happen is moot, it has happened. I will be interested to know the end result and hope it is a favourable decision for you.
It's amazing to me that the gold would discolor that quickly and there was no burns. I really am amazed.

I would expect RSC to fix this. No way 30 min. in a hot tub should ruin a Rolex. Best luck to the OP.

Couple of thoughts come to mind reading this thread,
Sorry to see this happen to your DJ
Did the water in the hot tub affect your skin ?
Was anyone in the tub wearing fake tanning agent that could have washed off and discoloured the gold ?
