Help with pictures

IMG_8797.JPG:
The Dimension limits for this filetype are 1250 x 1250.
We were unable to resize your file so you will need to
do so manually and upload it again. Your file is
currently 3264 x 2448.

Do i have to really resize every pic i take with my apple iphone?

I tried to use IMG but it won't even upload, so i can put IMG tags around it

I will se if i can reduce the size of the picture i take on my iphone settings, othere than that what can i do?

I mean aside from resizing my photos...

Not yet, working on it.

I don't need it until Sep. Oct. so plenty of time to find one.

Resize it, and pretty small at that...I can't even get 800x600 to upload so I will look around for another hosting service now that photobucket is charging for hosting.

Yeah, a pic that size won't look so hot at that resolution...640x480 is about as large as I can get it and still make the size limit:

Thanks. I know it can be made to go below the KB limit if higher compression is used but quality goes down, and it doesn't look as finely detailed. I'll experiment to see if I can find a happy medium between stick with the smaller size. :)

Actually it turns out that there is a plugin for irfanview which allows one to limit file size, I'll post a sample at the 293KB limit:

Here's 1024x768, this'll work:

OP, here's how I created previous image if you're interested:

The one I posted above was resized using irfanview (freeware for photo viewing and editing, I've been using it for years). If you download it (irfanview.com) you'll also need to download the plugins for it (easy, just like downloading the software) to allow you to limit the size of the image when you resize it.

To do it:

1. save photo(s) you want to post on your computer
2. open in irfanview, go to image->resize/resample
3. select best quality, slowest method/best results, sharpen on resample, adjust DPI
4. Select a size, you can use pre canned sizes as long as it's below 1250x1250. Whatever size you pick, check the limit size of image option, and enter 293 KB (that's the size limit on TRF, and max resolution allowed is 1250x1250)
5. resize it, save as jpg, select best quality and move slider up top to 100%.

Then upload it here in advanced portion of post edit using the little paper clip option.

It amazes me today most have the latest gadgets in smartphones and mostly in the real world have no knowledge how to use them except point and press the button. There are hundreds free apps on all platforms and tutorials on the net to do the very simple task in resizing pictures, trouble today most want everything done for them.I am 75 years young and if I can do it as even myself had to learn to do it. So I would think it would be a small task for all other members to do likewise its not rocket science.
