My speedy is losing accuracy

Hi all, my new speedy has gained +45 sec. so far. What are the +/- parameters? I bought it new, never dropped or banged. Don't know why it's running so fast.

So far over a day. Might need it serviced if it keeps running so fast.

Keep an eye on it day to day, if it varies dramatically (+23 one day, +45 another, -10 the third etc), then I'd bring it to Omega and have it serviced/looked @. If it's consistent, perhaps you just need to get it demagnetized/regulated at a watchmaker.

Thanks sensui, if it needs to be demagnetized, is that something done while I wait? I thought speedys could handle some EM fields quite well?

Definitely something that can be done while you wait, they just run the watch over a strip quickly back and forth. An Omega Boutique or watchmaker should be able to demagnetize or regulate quickly while you wait.

Thanks! I'll have to take it in soon and get it fixed.

To answer OP's question on accuracy parameters: Omega's non chronometer movements, to which the the Speedy Pro falls in, have a tolerance of -1/+11 sec per day. If your Pro is at 45s/day then it is definitely outside of spec and a quick trip to your AD/OB is proper.

Thanks Bishido, knowing the tolerance after it's fixed will be important for me to check on.

In my experience, magnetized movements have a tendency to be off way more than 45 seconds in a day. My guess, assuming that all the functions are working correctly, is that it has drifted out of regulation. It happens.

I can see how that can happen. Since my last post a few days ago, I am now at +2min. 20sec now. I plan on taking it in soon to have it run under the antimagnetic strip.

Sounds like you need to do some servicing to it.

To see if it it magnetized, hold it over a compass. (If you have an iPhone, there is a built in compass app). If the compass moves, it is magnetized.

They are notorious for gaining time when they need service
