I understand many collectors don't care for the post-acrylic comex as they were gifted to executives and not to divers and hence not really used for intended purpose. That said, I still think it's a really cool piece of history!

Ceremonial trinket for executives, 1k premium over a standard.

That's just an opinion .............

Unless it is fully documented then its nothing more than a re-dial IMHO. I didnt read anything in that ad about documentation to prove its a real COMEX

Looking at eBay here in the UK today there was a Comex replacement watch face (only) for sale for £330! Caveat emptor.

Clearly you guys don't know the market.

Watch is legit by the way as is the seller who I know and have bought from in the past. Best to do your homework before commenting IMHO.

I know who the seller is as well.........part of the Isringhausen dealership family. Geoff is the GM of their Porsche dealership IIRC. Are you feeling better now ?

As to knowing the market........well........that is a rather high handed comment. Anyone can ask whatever they want........if my disagreement with its price irks you please feel free to buy it.

For what it's worth - it's a nice looking Watch bar the few scuffs on the case

Interested to hear what the experts say about lack of documentation as I could be possibly building up to some trading/ comex purchase next. That's for another post though ....

Very impressive! Wow you know Geoff and his dealership - how cool.

As for buying not for me - when I bought a Comex I went with a 5514 with diver logs. To each his own though. Since you know him so well maybe he will take less from you. I will get him in on the conversation let's see what he says.

PS Stop the disrespectful messages to us on fallen police officers.

Thanks! I have something coming in this week you might be interested in I'll text you pics.

This is the market for a clean Comex 16610 with no papers, it sold a while back and I forgot to mark it as such.

I don't know Geoff personally however I do know his reputation and it's stellar.

You can ask whatever you want when you sell something. I just sold a motorcycle. I had one price. Take it or leave it. No different than anything else.

Now I think you should stop being disrespectful about the fallen LEO threads.

Well...i only wish it was still for sale or trade!!

Thank you Geoff for responding so promptly...truly appreciated.

I like the 16610 because you can see the date and I have a fully documented 16600 so it gives another option. I like these watches as a piece of history as well as horology.

Thx for all the feedback here as well!!!

The market is irrelevant. The desire for a material item is subjective to ones taste, desire, and needs.

There are works of art that sell for millions, that most of us wouldn't hang in a closet ................... etc.

The market is the market. It's like the RS America. Many thought it was a marketing exercise, many thought it was a badged up 964, but at the end of the day it is a limited production Porsche factory special that now commands real money. The same with any commodity, Rolex included. Do your homework and buy what you like, for any reason you like.

Geoff is an upstanding guy with great knowledge and incredible connections. I have great respect for the guy in the Porsche world and no now in the Rolex world.

Reading this thread confirms my belief that Steve's choice in appointing Ken and all the other moderators on this forum was 10/10.

No the market isn't irrelevant it is what it is and pricing is reflective of that. The fact is that these watches sell for what they do as there is demand at those levels. So whether one wants one or not is a different story. Just like if one wants a 6263 white Paul Newman now they are paying north of $250,000 for a nice example. Whether or not you would buy one at that price is up to you but the market is based on recorded sales driven by supply and demand. Again it is what it is and hard to argue with that.

True I guess..................... it only takes two individuals with the same desire, competitive egos, or a combination of both to establish a market.

A watch like that is unobtainable for me any way ....................
