372 Observations
So now that I've had this piece for a few days now and worn it out a several times, I have a few observations. It's a large piece, the biggest I've owned and anticipate owning. The first thing my wife said is: "I like the dial but it's HUGE!" Yup. Supposed to be, babe. It's a watch that works well on the weekends and for less formal affairs, a "fun" watch if you will.
I'd say that the 372 actually wears larger than my late BP, primarily due to the no fuss dial it has. A vintage AMMO adds to the large appearance. It also sits higher on the wrist, albeit much lower profile than other PAM's. The faux patina is subtle yet apparent. The watch really does hit almost all points IMHO. I have to get used to the plexi as it will attract scratches, which are more apparent on a dial this size and clean. The movement is lovely to look at and winding is as buttery as the 190. Panerai did an excellent job with the engravings and overall look on the back of the watch. In all, superb!

Call NY boutique!
Why not give NY boutique a call? You'll get it sooner I think. I never put my name on their list, called them and have it within a week.

Really nice watch Brian. Think a 6 and 3/4 inch wrist can handle it? I am pursuing it likely sight unseen and worry about the lugs dangling over the sides of my skinny wrist!

Great review bud...I love the watch..but I will be too big for my wrist...the BP looks huge on me and the 372 will be even bigger...
Enjoy that Beauty of a PAM

Bryan,
I agree with your observations. My overall impression is that this is an absolutely outstanding watch, and I truly think I like it better than the 127. I really couldn't be happier. It does wear big, no doubt, but I love the size. I think it is one piece which will look even better with some wear and tear, scratches, etc.

I'm sure you could handle it. Mik has some pics with one on and it looks fine. I think his wrists are 6.5"

There is a lot to love about the 372. I'm really glad you are getting along with yours. Mine has already moved on, simply too big and too much presence for my (somewhat humble) taste. But I do think it is one of the smoothest and nicest Panerai I have ever encountered. |

It's large, even for my tastes, but I know it's not a watch that is to be worn on every occasion. It has its own place in the collection.

Bryan et al,
I did try it for a few days and I've never been so aware of wearing a watch in my life. It almost gets in the way of life as you have to that precaution not to hit into stuff, make an effort when put on/off sweaters and jackets (luckily I didn't have to try them with gloves) and I found being somewhat self-aware because of it. I want a watch to accompany me in life, not the other way around. Still, I think it is a minimalistic and stunning design, and certainly one of the smoothest and highest quality Panerais I ever owned (others being 233, 243, 318 and 418). I know full well that 47mm is the "original" Panerai design and it is "pure DNA" to have one that size, but it is just too big and conspicuous watch for me. Again, this is my highly personal assessment. I do think the 372, as well as the 382, are drop dead gorgeous and if they rock your world - more power to you. I have a bit of strange collection criteria in that I like to be able to wear any of my watches at any time, I don't keep watch around for special occasions, weekend-wear etc. Enjoy! |

Beautiful.I agree with your sentiments Patrick.
If only it was 42mm. I just can't imagine wearing anything that size unless I had the physique of Stalone.

44mm is my comfort zone but there's no denying the beauty & appeal of the 372.
